new bushings... new clunk. :(
Just replaced the stock suspesion with ST rear sway(hideous green that I spray painted) RB front sway mount reinforce bar, eibach pro springs, Pettit toe links and the 6 new pillowball bushings... before the install I would get clunk when the car would bounce up and down going in and out of the garage but that was it...
45K on the car... now after install I get this godawful clunk whenever I hit the brakes or get on the gas... any change in direction = CLUNK.
HELP!!!
I thought it might be my toes rotating in there but that dont make no sense.
Any insights???
Stock rims and tires rear toe and camber to spec.

no I did not get the diff mounts...
differential... hmmm....
explain your reasoning to me if you would.
I get that clunk when I hit the brakes also... any change in the inertia of the car leads to the clunk... I can be going 30mph and hit the brakes for an easy stop and the moment the weight/mass of the car changes vector CLUNK.

strike up the paean
when you accelerate the weight shifts back; slop in bushings lets the diff move backwards -> clunk
when you brake the weight shifts forward; slop in the bushings lets the diff move forward -> clunk
when you off throttle weight shifts forward; etc etc

ive encounted the same problem but on a different car
its actually very common on a 240sx, and probably on any other car that has a rear differential secured with bolts and rubber bushings.

Dum de dum dum....
uh... er... well, you see... yesterday when I got under there the problem jumped out at me... I forgot to tighten completely the least visible bolt on the rear lower control arm under the rotor. Dumb de dum dum...... I blame it on the beer.
**I only drink when working on the car never while driving; too easy to spill.
thanks guys... chalk this one up to loose bolts.
<---- slightly embarassed.
