They are not required. They are a convenience item. They are NOT a load bearing item which is why they are typically made from nylon reinforced plastic. Their job is to roughly center the wheel while the user tightens the lugs.

"This is a subject I've asked many people about, and I've never really fully understood the reasonings behind hub-centric wheels, except for simplicity of mounting. Assuming that the lug nuts (or bolts) are tapered to fit in the resultant countersunk holes in the wheels, this should always be sufficient to center the wheel on the hub. Therefore, it should not affect the runout, regardless of whether or not the wheels are hub-centric. If the runout is not within specs, the wheel has been improperly made. Many hub-centric rings which are supplied with aftermarket wheels now are nothing more than flimsy molded plastic rings. These clearly help to center the wheel on the hub while tightening the lug nuts or bolts, but they will not offer any sort of structural integrity to the wheel itself."

wow at first I was gonna flame ya (lol) but man in the end it looks pretty damn good... especially considering how inexpensive your wheels and paint were!

congrats man, it looks GREAT! (for the money too).

nice pics, the wheels out back looked too skinny and too much fender gap at first but now they look fine, definitely good work man, nice to see someone go for it and then post pics. props.

*oh snap, it finally clicked... you bondo'd in the sidemouldings and there arent any sidemarker lights either... eh, it looks okay (not my cup o' tea) but at least it came out smooth and wrinkle free.

And here's what I like to do with my unsafe tyres:

Original poster, I have pics of my car with 225/40/18 on 18x9.5s up front if you'd like to see. Different offsets and fenders than you, though.

I guess since you are the Drift King its OK to runs insanely narrow tires on a wide wheel. Some of us like to actually get traction in turns however.

3 wheel motion doesn't look fun in an FC either.
