Need some good street pads for FD????

I have been running the M2 comp/street pads on the front for about a year now and I have been pretty satified with them. It is now time to replace front and rear pads. I looked into a stock set for the street and then Buying a set of competion pads for when I do road racing schools but then I saw that the stock pads are $100 for the fronts and $100 for the rears. I was like forget that. I am open to any sugestions. A nice set of street pads for a decent price and a nice set of comp pads for the track, Or something like I had before that is good for both. And when I say a decent price for a street only set of pads I mean around $100 bucks for all 4 wheels. Thanks for any advice.

EBC greens
Hawk HPS
Axxis Metal master

I use the Axxis and they dont dust much at all. Here is a link to them. They are good with my cross drilled rotors but I wouldnt use them on the track obviously. But you were looking for street pads anyways. Here is the link to the powerstop rotors and the metal master pads. https://www.olyonline.com/Autospec.htm

Thanks for the advice. I ordered a set of the Hawk Hight performance street/track pads today. They were $70 for the rears and $70 for the front and they are suposed to be great for the street and ocasional track use and that is what I am looking for.

Pegasus (http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/) has great prices on Hawk HPS, and I understand that Tire Rack does now, too. Less than $40 per axle. I use these on the street, they fade too easily on the track, and still dust a bit (but not too bad).

I have used Hawk HP+, and they are much better on the track than HPS but they still faded but never completely went away. And they dust profusely and squeal on the street. I won't buy them again for the front, but I would consider using them as track-only pads for the rear. If you don't mind the dust, they do feel very nice for street pads (lots of friction).

I have a set of EBC Green pads that I will be using when my new big brakes arrive. I have heard of people using EBC Reds on the street, too, which might meet your street+track goal. I will be using a Hawk track compound on the track, as I have given up on trying to find one pad that is good for both.

Several people have given me positive reviews of Porterfield R4S for the street and even some light track usage, but I have not tried them myself. I imagine the R4 are decent track pads, too.

I have also heard of people using Performance Friction pads on both the street and track with good results. However, they no longer make pads for the stock calipers, and they were expensive at about $200/axle. Endless pads are about the same price (or more?), and I know one driver who used one of their compounds for both track and street with good results.

If you decide to swap pads at the track, I have had the best luck with good old Hawk Blue 9012. Swapping pads only takes a few minutes and the rewards are well worth it. Plus, you will always have a few sets of pads around in case you burn through a set on the track. Going home on metal is not fun.

Dust with the Hawk HPS pads is almost nonexistent in my experience, and they don't squeal. I had Porterfield "old compound" R4 track pads on the car previously, and not only did they squeal like banshees, but they'd turn a freshly washed wheel black in 4 stops (damn near, and coat the side of the car with brake dust from the fender vents), and ate rotors like crazy. I switched to Hawk HPS pads (I don't track the car) and I'll never go back to a harsher pad on the street.

I ordered my new AP Racing brake kit with Hawk HPS pads also. Hawk pads are inexpensive, relatively long lasting, have good bite for a "street" pad, and don't have any of the negative qualities of a track pad on the street.

which ones?

I just took a look at pegasusautoracing's online catalog. They have:

(HK), Mazda RX-7, HPS HB155-HPS

and

( HK), Mazda RX-7, HPS HB152-HPS

Is one of them for the front and the other for the rears?

So should I get 2 of each? Thanks.

Give them a call. From the information on their web site, I couldn't positively identify that these are the 3rd gen. pads, but the shapes are right.

Also, you'll only need one of each. Each box contains pads for both axles. I had one uninformed salesman tell me I needed two of each. Guess what I've still got an extra set of?

I have a set of EBC greens in stock you can purchase at my cost plus shipping. They were a cancelled order and I would like to get them off the shelf. Let me know if you're interested. These are supposedly the street pads with occassional track use. Let me know if interested.

Thanks, Rishie

Hawk HPS pads

I just ordered the HPS pads and the total with shipping was about $85.00. You will need these numbers for the FD.
HB155-HPS for the front at 38.99 an axle. For the rears you will need HB158-HPS at 38.35 an axle. Hope this helps.
