Need fast answer: 285/30/18 with 42 offset?

Will 285/30/18 tire on a 18x9.5 wheel with 42mm offset fit on a stock suspension FD? Rear wheels of course.

I need a quick answer. The auction ends soon!

Probably ok, but I strongly suggest 10-inch wides for 285/30-18. The sidewall in a 285/30-18 is very short, and you need enough wheel width to keep from compressing the tire too much...

Thanks. You're right, they are a bit too wide for these wheels. I passed on them, but it was a heck of a deal.

265/35-18 on 9.5 x 18 is ideal.

sleepR1, say if you took a 9.5 inch wheel and used a 275, took another 9.5 and put a 265, would the 275 look wider form the rear of the car?? Also is there a 18inch tire thats the same hieght as the factory 225/50/16??

285/30-18 tires are nearly the same diameter as the stock 225/50-16 tires. They are actually just a bit smaller in diameter. They are wide, though, so you need wheels with the right width (10") and offset (+50-ish) to make them work.

And you can go a little bigger in diameter than stock (especially in the rear). 285/30s have short sidewalls, so it might make sense (for ride quality and rim protection) to look at 285/35-18s if you are planning to use them in the rear with some narrower-than-285 but larger-than-stock-diameter front tires.

265/35-18 and 275/35-18 would look about the same width on a 9.5 x 18 wheel. IMHO, if they look the same, then go with the narrower tire. It will be lighter in weight, and offer better handling response, than the 10-mm wider tire. Now if you mounted 275/35-18 on a 10 x 18, then the 275s will look wider, obviously because of the wider rim. The rim width will dictate how wide the tire width will be when mounted. 255/35-18 is as close to stock overall diameter of 225/50-16 as you'll get with 18s, and upgraded tire section widths.

so if you go 18x9 all around, say, then a 255/35/18 tire would fit perfect? Would that provide a "bulging" look in the sidewall or sit nice and flush with the rim lip. (if that makes sense)

255/35-18 on 9 x 18 will be flush along the sidewall to the rim lip.
