Need advice from those who run 17x10 CCWs

I picked up a set of 17x10 CCWs and plan to set my car up for these this winter. I was wondering if any of you guys that are running them with 275/40/17 Hoosier S04's or another P-metric sized tire could give me some tips. I am trying to budget time between the family and the car so any advice that I can get to help speed up the setup process will definitely help keep me out of the doghouse with the wife.

TIA

I run them for track only though. What specific questions do you have?

Kumho V710 275/40/17 is nice for autocross.
You may want more camber. I don't know the setting now, but last time was set to
Front: -2.7 Camber, 1/16 Toe out
Rear: -2.3 Camber, 1/16 Toe in.

Found out that not enough camber front, and not enough toe Out in front and In in back. May be 1/8.
Need to be on throttle in turns to engage the V710 nicely, the same thing with Hoosiers. so brake early, and smoothly get on throttle to make them grip.

Oh yea, run low pressures for V710, at most 30psi front and 26psi rear. The sidewall is pretty tough and rounded, so it does not take much pressure to make it efficient. Those are hot temp, so keep it at that temp after each run in autocross.

I would go with the Kumho V710 over the Hoosier at the moment for 3 reason. First cost. the 710 will be around 3/4's the cost of the same size Hoosier. Second would be performance, they are on par or better performing on 80% of the cars I've seen try both. Third would be wear, so far I'm seeing at least double the runs on the lastest version of the 710 compared to 3 sets of S04's I ran earlier this year. Part of this was a production problem that Hoosier had and according to Jeff Spears has been fixed, but they also have a compound issue that they have not admitted as of yet.

As far as setup, Reza hit it on the head. The more camber you can run with the 710, the better. I run my car with zero toe in front and from 1/8 to a 1/4 toe in in the rear. A little toe out in the front will help with Turn in, and a little toe in in the rear will help you to put the power down without kicking out the back end.

Hope this helps,

I am still debating between the V710 and the S04. I have used the S04s (245/45/16) all season and I am really going to be in a pinch to wear them out before the end of the season. What did you guys start with as far as ride height goes?

As low as you can go without rubbing.

2 fingers between top of fender to tires should be plenty on 500lbs/in spring or above in front.
same thing in rear.

At VIR and Mid Ohio I rub a little bit and my car is set up slightly higher than stock. I run 500 springs in front.
