Manual Steering Rack VS Power Steering

Which is better for the serious driver? I don't mind putting some muscle in it, but how is the manual steering? Is retrofitting to manual hard? I have an '88 vert BTW.

on my 1st gen I wouldent want power steering. very solid feed back through the steering wheel. I also have 205/50/15 BFgoodrigh G/force Kd' on my car, raises the steering effort at low speeds substancialy.
I took it auto-xing this last weekend and it worked great!
