Just in today... Powder coated FD stock wheels!!

There has been a lot of talk lately about doing this and I thought it would be a good idea for my spare set of Stockers that I have my autocross tires on. That is when I saw this in a thread...

"I can powder coat all four wheels for $120 (includes return shipping). Blasting extra. The guy who did it for $80 was very inexpensive. But, if anyone is interested.....

Send email to bengraves@fuse.net for more info (references available to those interested). My process includes pre-heating the wheel to avoid outgassing after curing the powder. Then I apply two coats of powder, black and clear coat. I use the same acrlyic powder that the OEM's use. "

Well, he turned out some awesome work and I'm very happy with them.

Take a look...

Running out now to get my tires remounted.

now that is CHEEP I recently got my calipers coated... I did all the work (blasting removing seals) and he coated them then I had to rebuild them... charged me 100$ I thought that was a deal. those wheels are a steal.
now I wish I had some stockers just to give them that fresh facelift.

I don't know how this guy does it so cheap. Is he including an acrylic clear top coat? This is what makes the coating so hard and better able to withstand road abuse. Also note that my price includes return shipping.

Jim, thanks for the write up. It was a pleasure doing business with you.

I'll look forward to hearing from you guys on the forum. I can also be contacted at bengraves@ion-tech.com.

If anyone has any extra wheels (must be true) I will coat four wheels for free for one FD wheel.

Hey man I just emailed you. How much extra do you charge to blast all four?

Send email during the day (8:00-5:00) to bengraves@ion-tech.com. Blasting is $15-30 per wheel, it depends on how long it takes.

No chrome. There are powders that look like chrome, but up close no one would think it is chrome.

Maybe it's more of a dark charcoal grey... Here is a pic of Want2Race's car, I think thats the best color by far.

Also another question.. I might be able to sandblast them myself but is it really necessary? I like the stock finish even though I still want it to adhere.

Looks nice!

Black wheels are taking over... I've got em for the street on my FD and I recently ordered some for my daily driver as well. I'm even thinking of having my track wheels anodized black (though just an idea at this point).
