This just in today... Powder coated FD wheels!
Sand blasting is critical to the process. To be sure that you get the best adhesion between powder and metal you have to have clean bare metal. It can be done without blasting, but have you ever heard the phrase "penny wise and pound foolish"? In the long run (or even the short run) the powder will chip off easier. The reason powder is so much stronger than liquid paint is the cross linking process that takes place during the curing cycle. Without clean bare metal you completely or partially (depends on the condition of the wheel) lose that cross linking characteristic.
jmo87 - the black is a high gloss polyester straight black. Other colors are available for the asking.
Everyone please note that color requests are difficult because we often get into "shades of gray" and it is hard to know exactly what somebody is picturing in their mind. In light of that I will do my best to do special colors.
Don't forget about my offer - I will powder coat a complete set of FD wheels for free (blasting extra) for one TRUE (scratches o.k.) stock FD wheel.
You can check out my companies web site (I do this "on the side") if you are interested in seeing how I know about powder coating - www.ion-tech.com
Thanks for all your interest, now start sending me those wheels!

well, my car is up on jackstands in the garage at this moment...but hopefully it will be back on the ground this week...then I'll take some pics.
BTW, ben didn't do my rims, it was a local friend of mine. He pretty much coats them for next to nothing, because his company really only does very large jobs for boeing and large construction co. He does this under the table for me cause he loves RX-7's

Put a couple on for the camera
Ok, Decided to put two of the wheels on the car for a photo, They have my autocross rubber on so I'll just take them right back off after the photos. Lots of work when your car sits low.

It is hard to achieve a matte finish with the clear coat I use - it adds alot of gloss. I could do your wheels without the clear coat, but you wouldn't have that extra layer of protection. Anyway, if you want me to do it without the clear coat I'll charge you $90 for four wheels including return shipping & insurance.
