Just ordered ssr sp1, help me chose tire size

I just ordered a set of ssr sp1 wheels from tirerack today for a killer deal. I was looking for 17s but they did not have anymore, so i went with 18s. 18x9 41 offset and 18x10 49 offset. I think i bought the last two 18x9. The only bad thing is that two is satin and the other two is black. I will have to paint them black.

I need to get some sticky street tires, probably some toyo T1R. I am not looking for a R compound tire, at least not yet. I have tein HA and rear aftermarket trailing arms. I will test fit the new front wheel and tire combo. I i need to i will get the fenders rolled. I dont drive my car much, it is usually garaged. But i do drive i every once in a while. I will be doing some hpde next year. I only want to run one set of wheels and tires. And i dont want to outgrow the tires too quickly.

For the front i think i will go with 255/35/18 but i am unsure about the rear. I am currently running 255 17s without much issue in the front. So my rear choices are
275/35, 285/30 or 295/30.
I know the 35 series would be better for the street. Will the 30 series tire be that much more harsh. Basically i need to know if its worth it to go with a wider and smaller series tire. Any one running these tires sizes, i would not mind looking at some close up of the side walls. I just dont want to buy the wrong size. As we all know that tires in this sizes are not cheap.

I would go with the 255 in the front and a 275 in the rear.

I know the 30 series will be more harsh. But what i am trying to decide is is it worth it for the slightly wider tire. Will i even notice a difference between a 275 and 285? I am beginning to lean more towards the 35 series just to be on the safe side.

With those offsets you're gonna have to roll the front fender on the FD for sure.

In the rear that's a great offset to run the 285/30/18.

Overall my vote would be for nearly matching tire diameters of
255/35/18 and 285/30/18.

Typically 285/30/18 is a hard to find tire and expensive to boot.

Not sure if you have a hookup on tires but we just setup a little warehouse near South City. You can always bring them down there. I only go there once a week but I'll make arrangements for you if you don't have tire and mounting hooks.

Oh you might need the aftermarket trailing arms in the rear for clearance purposes.

Also both those tire sizes are offered by Toyo T1Rs. Cheap and good tire!

I would do 255 and 285.

but you can also do the 255 all around too, that way you have a lot of clearance on the rears and keep your costs down a little. a 255 on a 10" wheel is a nice fit and not super stretched at all. I know the 285 will fit but dont be scared to run a 255 out back if you want to save some $$$.

although that 275 may be the best choice if you drive over really rough roads.

They don't sell Toyo, but we do.

Thanks for the offer Rishie, but i can mount and balance it at my work.
edgeracing seems to have very good pricing on the T1R
255/35/18 $163
275/35/18 $183
285/30/18 $212
Thanks for the suggestions but still undecided. Will the 285/30 be a noticeable difference on the track vs 275/35.

The larger the tire difference between the front and rear, the more understeer you'll create. You can offset that depending on what other suspension components you have (i.e. their adjustibility), but I generally recommend staying within 2 sizes front to back (i.e. 255 and 275, or 265 and 285).

fwiw, I have seen a 3 cars rub the fenders when using a 17" x 9" 40 offset wheel and 255/40/17 tires. I don't with a 45 offset.

Depending on your tolerance for that scenario, you may want to consider 245s for the front.

Run a 255/35 up front,slightly stretched,mines a 9.5 and it looks fine.
I prefer a 275/35 opposed to a 285 you get so little sidewall as to make the car squirly the little extra width is not worth it.

Edit I think there is a 295/35 option? the tire ***** will probably not recomend it though.

track.... dragstrip or roadcourse?

I am not sure what the dimensions of the 275 tire are compared to the 285 an the 255 so its hard to give you a solid answer.

roadcourse, hdpe. One of the reasons that i wanted to go with a 285/30 is that its closer to the stock diameter than the 275/35. So its not just the extra 10mm in with. Maybe i should just flip a coin.

I am currently on 17x8.5 35 offset with 255/40/17 all around and i dont rub on the fenders. But if i do rub, i'll get the fenders rolled.

hpde, then definitely go with a 255 front and 285 rear setup

or the 255 all around if your not at a tire shredding high power level with a leadfoot as well.

i just bought these off of Rx7will. i need to get the tires for them but if i go with 255/35's and 275/35's will it rub? some say it will other ppl say maybe. i dont plan on lowering it much if at all, its at stock height right now. also with the rear having a 49+ offset i was thinking of getting 5mm spacers because i know the tires may rub the Trailing arms.
