got the 275's for 285 new and i got the 255's used with 90% tread left for 160

they are just the RE050A's not the pole positions but still have a 140/A/A tread rating

just to follow up everthing looks ok no rubbing or anything. i will put 5mm spacers on the rear just because the rear looks like it needs it somewhat. here are pics.

It's worth noting... with the 255/275 combo, we're talking 35 series, NOT 30 as would be the case with a 285. The sidewall height issue someone mentioned won't be a problem w/ 35 series.

Honestly, and 255/35 is going to be taller by a bit than 285/30. I would not run that combo for that reason, I'd never want a taller front tire, either functionally OR asthetically.

As someone mentioned, 285's are great on track, but usually with a matching front. With a 255/285 combo, you're just pushing the differential further apart, making the car potentially tougher to ballance based on your preference.

I've got 285/30/18 steamrollers for all four corners for my track wheels, and have used a 275/40/17 all around setup us well. Both are potent in terms of grip.

However for the street, and if I only had one set of wheels in the sizes you list, I'd go with a 275/35 and 255/35 combo.
