How long do the stock FD shocks last?

My '93 touring has 99k on the body, but I don't hear any creaking from the shocks, it doesn't bounce up and down over bumps or if you push on it, and there isn't any abnormal tire wear. 99k is alot of miles, think they are still fine?

from what i have read and observed, they do indeed last a long time. do a search on posts from howard coleman. he tested high mileage stock shocks on a shock dyno and didn't measure any perceivable difference.

if they are leaking then yes you should replace.

Yep, if you don't notice any excessive bobbing around after a bump and there is no leakage, they are probably fine.

cool good to know, checked Howard Colemans posts about the subject, very informative.

Quite amazing that the oem shocks last so long!

FWIW, my 95K mile FD had dead OE shocks, that wasn't realized until I took off the springs.

Same with another set with similar mileage.

IMHO, the only way to check is to dis-assemble the shock/coil assembly.
