I want to repaint my vert rims in gold, with a polished lip, after seeing some VOLK CE-28N's with that color combo. However, some gold colors are kinda dark, and kinda flat. What I want is the nice shiny gold color that's in this pic:



Now, I cant powdercoat or anything because I'm too cheap, so only spraybomb for me. Would a dremel with a buffing thing give it that look?

Powder coat is the only way to go. These guys do AWESOME work!

They painted alot of our friends and customers wheels and valvecovers.

powder coat is the only way to go, if you use spray can, the gold will just fade over time and it will begin to look bronze

 

EDIT: I contacted the owner of the car in the sig, and those are actually Volk GT-N's, wanted to clear that up

I heard powdercoating isn't good for the wheels, because the heat up and cool down process can generate tensions in the material of the wheel ... and then the wheels can break more easily.

 

^bullshit. one might believe that if they have no idea how powdercoating works. the material is sprayed on using a very miner + charge through maybe 2 electrodes. then, it cookes at 450 degrees for under an hour. during a crazy track meet, you could get your tires to 120 degrees, but that heat stays inside the tires. i know that math doesnt really add up, but why would volk racing, work meister, and pretty much every other high end company powdercoat if it wasnt good for the wheel?
trust me, powdercoating is WAY better than paint. it doesnt flake off (IF done properly), only way to scratch it is to really go to town on it, and its very easy to touch up whatever gets messed up (just repowder and cook again)
seriously, its fine for the wheel. ****, i have most of my engine powdercoated and those are aluminum that i coated. still holding up strong.
