how can i raise the car's height?

currently the car has tokico shocks, and i believe stock springs, but my new front bumper is simply too low to the ground for the set up to be practical.

apparently the tokico's are not height adjustable...so what can i do? should i just switch in stock FD shock absorbers? can i...(this is probably stupid but i'm not very good with suspension =/ ) purchase stiffer springs of some sort? will wheels of bigger diameter help with that also? right now i have the stock 16 in wheels.

thanks

Was this a problem before you got the new front bumper? If it wasn't, then its the bumper design. Is this part of a body kit? The shocks won't raise the car. Its the springs' job to hold up the car, the shock just controls the spring. If the bumper height was not a problem before I wouldn't try to change things to make the new one work, you will just open a big can of worms with suspension geometry.

rancho 6" lift kit.......

Check your upper shock mounts, they are rubber and the car will sag when they get old as the springs dig in. After pulling my old ones out, I figure the car was sitting at least 1/2" lower than it should've been.

when you get any sort of aftermarket front end, regardless if its a rice or race, its going to be alot lower than the stock bumper. Rasing the from the stock hight of the car would rase the center of gravity and you would have to sacrifice the handling of the car. otherwise i would just drive very carefully as you would with a car thats lowered. (back out on a slant on driveways, go up or down steep hills on a slant so the bumper doesnt clear. approx how many inches of ground clearance do you have? what kind of kit is it by the way?

If you've still got stock springs, they're really shouldn't be a problem unless you installed some cow-catcher front end...

Shocks won't affect the matter at all.

Actually, from what I've read the Tokicos might sit a little lower. I could be wrong here, but I don't think so.

FWIW, Koni shocks are height adjustable and the highest setting is equivalent to stock.

You could also be loosing some ride height due to worn factory shock tower bushings (aka pillowballs). Or the front bumper you got could be too damn big. Or you have been driving SUVs too long.
