Question Help me decide (photoshop pics)...

Folks,

I'm in the market for another set of street wheels. I've narrowed the choices down to the SSR Professor SP1s, Forgeline GT3s, Gram Lites and perhaps SSR GT2s. My current wheels are 18x10 CCWs (for track, F&R) and IGFs 17x9 (street, F&R). Don't need help with sizes, just opinions on looks.

Please excuse my crude photoshop pics. The SSR Pofessor image uses a pic from the Tire Rack. I did not include a pic of SSR GT2 as I could find no decent images to use. The stock photo from the Tire Rack sucks.

Thanks

Gene

Definitely the SSR Professors or the SSR GT-2s.

Thanks.

Here's a bigger pic. As I mentioned, I use these as my track wheels and don't want a set for the street since they're a PITA to clean and the wheel lips are so large they're just asking for curb rash.

I used Paint Shop for this. Had a nice side view of my car, copied pics of wheels, and pasted them into the base image as another layer. You have to make sure you reduce or enlarge the images so the wheels are the correct size (Best to reduce your side photo since enlarging the wheel pics cases them to look pixelated). I set the layer opacity to 50% so I could make sure the wheels were centered on the base layer's wheels. Then use the eraser tool to remove unwanted parts of the new layer. Make sure that layer is promoted, then merge.

I saw the Forgeline GT3s on the black M2 car in person at their shop several months ago and they are SWEET, so those would be my first choice. Second would be the SSR Professor SP-1s, however, they are a fairly heavy wheel. If you decide to get the latter, try Z1 Auto in New York (http://www.z1auto.com/) for pricing. The guy there (Adam, IIRC) offered me a set of 17s awhile back for ~$1950/shipped. (YMMV)

Cool, thanks. Saw the same wheels at M2 myself (Mike's car). That's also the image I used for the photoshop (front wheel). Brian's black race car looks nice too with the Kinesis K58s.

Unfortunately, I just got off the phone with Forgeline and they no longer make the GT3. It's been replaced with the RS3 (very similar). These wheels are pretty darn heavy. An RS3 in 18x9.5 weighs 25 lbs!

The Profs aren't that bad as they weigh about 23 lbs for 18x9. This is somewhat heavy, but I'm not that concerned about unsprung weight for the street. SSR GT2s are a good bit lighter (18x9.5 is 19.5 lbs).

BTW, my 18x10 CCWs are 19.5 lbs with titanium fasteners.

Here are the only decent images I could find of the SSR GT2s.

Gene,
Either you're parked on one hell of a hill, or your fence builder was smoking crack.

I'd go with something that is the same color scheme as your track wheels, only with bigger centers and hidden bolts... Fikse's maybe?

Gene, since you seem to be considering 5-spoke wheels, have you considered the Work line? They look very similar to the Forgelines, GT2s, and Professors. And like CCWs, they can be custom made to your specific app.

P.S. What ever happened to your site? I had it bookmarked, but it hasn't seemed to be working lately.

One hell of a hill.

Thought about Fikses too, but am not sure I want to spend that much on street wheels, particularly given the conditions of streets here in Seattle.

Very tasty! I'll give them a shout.

My website is sort of in limbo. My domain expired, but my ISP failed to notify me. Then I submitted payment, but they didn't process it for two months, so it's under "redemption". HostMatix ******* blows!
