Time for a change from my old trusty wrong size and offset oz racing wheels. I like the style ok, but the fitment is no bueno. I am partial to 10 spokes or thereabouts (advan rz's, weds tc105 etc), even like something with a bit of lip like the new work zr10s. Probably going for something in the 18x9.5 +38 to +45 range. Rolled front fenders, rear fenders stock. approx 1.5deg camber front and rear. Aftermarket trailing arms in rear. Lowered on coilovers to abou 25-25 1/2" fender height. Pretty set but not dead set on a square 255/35 setup. Need good brake clearance for my wilwood calipers, my BBK has a weird offset. Leaning toward bronze but might consider gunmetal if I like the style. Opinions? Anybody selling or got a line on something fitting my needs?
I will say this: best of luck finding anything actually in stock. This whole 'supply chain covid delay' thing has been rearing it's ugly head lately. I'll shoot you a PM
So if anyone sees this in the next few minutes before I make a rash decision, lol. Here are the two I've narrowed it down to. Form over function, I love this new zr10 in bronze, but I'm looking at 4-6 mos backorder.
Second choice, same price, same size, 3 lbs lighter, in stock ready to ship, not sure I like the style quite as much, but definitetly function over form
I've determined with both retailers that my bbk should clear both, the weddssports are +45 so fitment should be a cinch. The works are +38, technically I should be ok, I think with my rolled frt fenders and current 1.5deg camber...I can raise my coilovers a tad if I have to. Looking to run 255/35 square. My #1 main choice was bronze advan rzii's but I've been told their backorder is the worst of the jap brands at 6-8mos, I think that would push me over the edge, lol
18" Afvan GT
Advan GTs look amazing on these cars. 5 spoke like OEM with a modern look. Not a bNot wheel either with either too many spokes or mesh.
I agree that carries on with the original styling cues of the car by running a 5 spoke, just not my taste, I like more and thinner spokes. Caliper clearance doesn't look great on that one either. Ended up going with a Weds tc105x. Got 3 of them in my possession, currently trying to sort out with fedex where the 4th one is. Hopefully not lost.
Initial impression was these things are crazy light. I haven't weighed them but they are claimed to be around 17.5, and I don't doubt it. I like the color. Was concerned they were going to be lighter, or shinier or more of a dark chrome type thing but I'd say they are a pretty true gunmetal IMO. Was hoping for just a bit more concavity, but I think they look great. I just can't get past the weight of these. I had a standing offer for a set of new, in stock volk ze40s, same size and fitment, for $32xx plus shipping, and despite being forged, they are 1lb heavier per wheel! I'm calling these Weds a bargain in the jap wheel market.
Dang dude, those are a great choice. Now you got me cross shopping. I thought I'd made up my mind, but didn't consider how light these wheels end up at. The other set I'm looking at are ~21lbs. I like these a lot.
Fitment in the rear, I think, is going to be ok, I'm running a 5mm spacer in the rear, that I didn't really plan to run. The clearance to the sway bar end link is soooo close without the spacer, I didn't feel comfortable. It's minimal even with the spacer, but now with my unrolled rear fenders and effectively a +40 and 1.2deg camber I hope they clear on a big compression. Does look good though. Would need another 15-20mm to be "flush" like kids are after, but not really my thing. Fits so much better than my old oz racing rims.
