Help me choose tire size

I've searched. I know what stock size tires will fit with no problem. I am doing the LS1 conversion. I just picked up a set of RX7 RSR rims off ebay.

17X8 (50) 17X8.5 (50) 5 X 114.3

they will be beautiful.

So I'm thinking 245/55's in the rear and 225/50's in the front. I dont want to rub and this is going to be a daily driver for the most part. No autox or drag. Just a stock LS1 setup to cruise around in. I'm no tire specialist so I dont know what is possible. I have yet to see what springs this car has actually. I havent made it that far. I just want a nice full wheel well look. I hate rubbing, never want to do that again. anyways, let me know what you think. thanks.

Go for 225/45 front, and 245/40 or 245/45 rear. 245/55/17 would be way to tall.

245/45, maybe 255/40 (if you can find em) in the rear. Even 245 all around wouldn't be a bad setup.

Is this for an FD or FC?

Those tires sound too tall.

Try 245/40/17 all around, or swap either or both w/ 235/45/17 front, 255/40/17 rear.

Thanks guys. As I said, I'm not the tire specialist and I'd rather get input here than anywhere else. Maybe if I sit down and do my taxes i can order the rubber next. I'm thinkin the 45's are the way to go. Pictures would be nice but I'll manage.

^^^

You can't go with 45 series at any wider a width than 235.

Go with 245/40's at the least.

From: Oahu, HI. where my shippin cost is more than yours unfortunatley...
Just adding my .02 cents With a 17x8 size, I would definetly go with 245/40 tires. With a width base of 8 inches, you tire choices could range from 235 to 255. So maybe 255 in the rears and 245 in the front. Its totally up to you bozz. Hope this helps.

I went to Discount as thats where I buy most all my tires. I honestly really dont care for their sales people at this one in particular or what they say honestly. Thats why I posted up here with people that actually have them on the car. thanks again for the input.

I'm bumping this up. I'm still undecided. I was thinking of 235/40/17 front and 255/40/17 rear, but the tire I want does not come in 235 for the front set. so 245/40/17 and 255/40/17? dont want to put 45's up front either.

Not planning on lowering it, but my clearance should be good with this right even if I do?
