GC Coilovers

Hey, this is too anybody with GC coilovers...I bought a used set several months and put them on my car. I didn't have the instructions that I hear come with the kit new. Could somebody either scan, or take digi-cam pics of the instructions and post them here, or email me or something? I have already installed them, but I'm not sure if I did it totally correct, although nothing has broke yet. Thanks a lot. My email is onlyndrms@excite.com. Thanks again. Oh, I have a 1990.

Hate to break it to you, but the instructions that came with the kit new sucked... I still haven't had anyone *positively* tell me which way is up and which of the 3 possible settings my Koni shocks are supposed to be on. Plus they tell you to cut the stock shock boots, but I wanted a better bump stop... even TrueChoice sent me one that wouldn't fit, and still hasn't refunded my money, although they got the parts back in new, unused condition on 8/14...

Don't talk to me about the GC kit. I'm not that thrilled with mine at the moment.

hmmm..I just cut my bumpstops and that worked fine. Installation was pretty straightforward I guess, but I'm not sure. I didn't have the instructions but the guy who sold it to me zip tied the parts together in order for me(or so I think). So I went by that, and that seemed to work. The only problem is the camber caster plates didn't seem to fit. The holes don't quite match up with the holes drilled in the strut tower. So I don't know if I should just drill new holes, the new holes would actually overlap the original ones. But I don't even know which camber/caster plate is the left and which is right. Also I had to grind away part of the strut to make the threaded collar fit down, is this normal?

Depending on which struts you have, grinding away part of a weld can be required. The Koni struts don't have to have any modifications done.

There are no left and right on the spring perches, just front and rear. The pillow mounts (upper plate) should have three different mounting holes for the bolts which bolt to the car. You'll notice that two are in one spot (the widest) and two are in the middle position. I can't remember, off the top of my head, which is front and which is rear, but you should have an easy time of identifying them by matching them up to the stock (rubber) pillow mount bolt spacing, or just by putting them on the car. If you get them wrong (i.e. switch front to rear) they will not fit, which is what I assume you're running into.

I didn't want to cut my stock bumpstops, partially because they've only seen 13,000 miles and I figured that intact, with the rubber pillow mounts, which wear out, they're worth something to someone else. Then again, when I put a new system on the car, I don't want to have to butcher the old system to scavenge parts. I want new bump stops.

No thats not what I meant...I have the coilovers on my car already, and I've been driving around for sevseral months with them on. Its the camber/caster plates that I don't have on yet, cause I couldn't make them fit. and also I can't tell which camber/caster plate is left or right, although it doesn't matter cause the holes don't match up. Maybe 86-88's were slightly different then 89-91's.
