Front lower arm ball joint refitting

I am trying to tighten the nut but the ball joint keeps spinning. How do I stop this from happening? It's really frustrating as this is the last thing I need to do before getting back on the road.

I have tried placing a jack under the arm to apply a bit of pressure but still no luck.

See if you can dig up an impact.

Make sure the taper is clean (both surfaces). Carefully tap the upright down onto the ball joint -- a light tap may help to "set" the mating surfaces together in the taper. You are going to tap the upright, and not the shaft -- you want to press the upright down onto the shaft. Turn the nut really fast.

wedge a big screwdriver in between the balljoint nut and the arm, or between the balljoint base and the arm, this will jam it tight again and you can loosen the nut a little.

also try pounding the balljoint back up into the arm and retightening the balljoint nut, then loosen the nut once you seated the balljoint back into the arm.

good luck, frustrating it SURE IS~!!!!!
