Thumbs up Finally narrowed it down to two choices, help me with some info and last decision!

Well as the title says I have narrowed my rim choices down to two. Now the thing is the designs are relativly the same, just by different manufacturers.

I am no expert on the wheel so help me out, what one is a better build, lighter (guess if you have to), more bang for the buck and so on. Plus just let me know what one you think would work best on my BB FD.

-The first one is a 3 piece design, the WORK Meister S1

-The other is the SSR SP1, this rim is a 2 piece but designed to look like a 3 piece.

Besides the assembly, the only cosmetic difference i see is the SSR's spoke goes right into the bolt pattern, something i tend to like more.

thanks for the pics of some forum members cars

cheers

What size are you considering? Are there differences in the available offsets in said sizes? That could be the real deciding factor, if one wheel fits well, the other not.

My vote goes to the WORK Meister S1, they can be made into any offset you wish cause of the muilti-piece design.

IF you do decide to go with them give AutoRnd a ring Rishie will help you out on fitment and give you the best prices around...

With the 3 piece you might think of get a tire pressure system. This due to the fact that a 3 piece can lek air if not sealed correctly.

Just a thought to think about.

I like the SSR for the for the same design factor of the spoke.

Both wheels can be made in the offset needed for the FD so the WORK being custom doesnt realy matter.

Im looking at doing a 9.5/10 inch rear and 8.5/9 inch front in wich both manufaturers make. So mainly my main concern is build quality and bank for the buck.

I dont race or track the car so maybe thats another reason to stay away from the work, not sure.

the only notable difference other than whats been mentioned already is

iirc is the works are cast/spun and the SSRs are forged/spun

but both manufacturers make quality wheels.

otherwise they look, fit and weigh similar.

in general cast weighs less, forge weighs more, and forge is stronger. i do not know if this general analysis applies to work or ssr with their special fancy shmancy forging/casting techniques.

another difference i just picked up on
the ssr prof's spokes cover up the 'rivet' section of the wheel
the meisters end right before it

I think the SSRs look pretty damn good on this FD. Anyone know who owns the car?

Im thinking the same, the bold spokes of these rims seem to suit the car so much, just gives it a more powerful look!

No, forged is usually both lighter and stronger. And more expensive. Most SSR wheels are made using a "squeeze-cast" technique, which results in wheels that are almost as strong and light as forged, but are cheaper.

Either of those wheels are quality wheels, but I would go with the SSRs.
