Question FD: Problem w/ stock rims and Powerslot

I installed Powerslot all around not so long ago. Just recently I noticed that the stock front rims won't fit flush against the spindle when mounted. I used some washers as spacers (3 per stud which is I think significant difference) to temporarily solve the problem.
It seems that the ring holding the bearing cap is in the way of the rim fitting properly. Did any one have a problem like this before?
Any sugestions, solutions.

Powerslots I assume are the rotors? The rotors do not "key" to the wheels at all, they merely fit around the hub that pokes through and centers the wheel. Is there any corrosion around the spindle preventing the rotors from seating correctly and thus the wheel won't bolt up true?

You might want to take a picture. I'm having a tough time visualizing how the rotors could affect the wheel fitment around the hub.

I'm doing some other stuff to the car this weekend so I'll have to check it out agin. From what I remember there was very little corrosion. I'll have some pics in a couple of days. Again when I mount the rim, the ring around the bearing cap gets in the way. It's as if the ring is too wide or the rim opening is too narrow by a milimiter.

Sounds like poor fitment from a non OEM supplier. If they don't fit proplerly, you should get your money back.

It should fit flush. Don't put any washers there. Like Damon suggested, see if there is corrosion on the hubs . If there is clean it off with a 90 degree die grinder and a sanding pad. If you don't have access to one then you can use some sandpaper. I like to put some anti-sieze before putting the rotor on. Also, try using a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts evenly. I've had problems where the rotors were vibrating as if they were warped and it was caused by unevenly torqued lug nuts.

The rotors are PowerSlot brand. I'm running HKS's with those. I have no problems with the rear rims fitting, just the front ones. I am not sure that it's OEM issue because I know of guys running the same setup on their brakes (PowerSlot+HKS) and I didn't hear of any problems like this. There must be something else thats causing it. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Did you beat the old rotors with a hammer to get them off and accidently hit the raised ridge on the hub that centers the wheel? Come on, tell the truth

...and HKS what? They don't make brakes that I am aware of.

O-oh, I think we're getting somewhere. I did have to pound on the old rotors to get them off. I used a rubber mallet though. That raised ridge could be the problem, I am not quite sure what you're talking about. Could you explain a little bit more about it.

Sorry, Hawk HPS brake pads not HKS (my bad, I know they don't make brakes).

Looks to me like a centering ring for an aftermarket wheel is in the way.

That ring that is labled with a question mark, remove it. That's a centering ring from an aftermarket set of wheels like 93 R1 said. Remove them all and your stock wheels will fit just fine.

EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I am interpreting your first picture correctly, you have installed washers between the lug nuts and the wheel.

If that is correct, GET RID OF THE WASHERS!!!! They will prevent the lug nuts from seating against the tapered lug nut hole. Even after you solve the hub center ring mystery, you will still destroy your wheels and wheel studs if you leave those washers there.

And, if the wheel breaks apart while driving, you or someone else could end up dead.

Good luck.

Where the heck did you get a centering ring from an aftermarket wheel on your rotor? Are they used rotors? Perhaps the seller is missing the ring for his wheels... but usually they stick to the wheel, not the rotor!

Thanks a lot guys. I will take those rings off right away.
I haven't been driving the car at all because of this. Ralph, I only put the washers temporarely so that I could drive the car from the tire place to my garage (3 mi). Haven't driven it since because I understand how serious the problem was.
Again thanks a lot guys, my next stop after I take those off is the alignment shop.
