FD Non Stock Rear Alignment Question

How many of you are running wide tires on 17" - 19" rims have had the camber set to about -.3 to -.5 degrees?

Kyle and I went to a supposely good alignment shop and they said they could not give us less than about -1.1 degrees camber.
We both have 275/40-17 tires on the rears.

When I look at the position of the camber adjustment plates, they looked like they could be turned a lot more to reduce the negative camber. We were thinking that maybe they were not trying to adjust the toe-in links at the same time to allow full range of movement.

Any opinions or comments?

I use 255/17's and occasionally run 275/17 track tires. I have never had any problem running -0.5 deg in the rear with either of the sizes.

My suggestion is to find a different alignment shop.

I had the same issue with my alignment shop. They couldn't get less than 1 degree negative camber on one side of the rears and about -.5-.8 on the other side. To their defense, I think one of my outer bushings on the spindle is worn and contributing to this.

However, perhaps a different alignment place might be able to get different results.

I'm running 255/40/17 all around

My rear suspension has all new bushings with less than 35kmiles on them.

I have one of the SmartCamber gauges and adjust it myself. It will be somewhat dependent upon ride height but getting around -2.5 degrees is not a problem. I can get more negative camber in the rear than in the front (max is about -1.8 with full caster). (18x10" wheels)

Chuck,

I have mine at -0.5 with 18x10. He originally put around -2 to the rears but the car got squirrelly on the track. I just couldn't put the power down without the back end coming out. I even dropped the rear tire pressure during the track event until I could get it re-aligned.
