FD bolt pattern

I'm looking to purchase a dedicated set of drag radials for my FD to be used strictly for drag racing. I'm going to purchase new wheels and tires and need to find out the bolt pattern/size of the wheels for the FD. Any recommendations on a cheap/light set of wheels would be appreciated. I'm also looking for input on drag radials. I'm not too concerned about tread wear, just the ones with the most grip. Not going to be putting to many miles on these just to and from the track and however many runs I get while I'm there. Thanks for any input.

5 on 114.3 (4.5 inches)

It's a shame you're just using the FD for drag racing. Its wonderful suspension setup is tailored for road racing work.

I don't get FD owners who focus on drag? Sure the FD accelerates well, but its handling, acceleration, AND braking are what REALLY set this car apart from anything else on the road!

If you want to drag, go buy a slush-box equipped, solid-rear-ended Camaro or Firebird! Great torque (for 60 ft times), no wheel-hop (for better launches), and easy 12- and 13- second ETs!

It's plain blasphemy to ONLY drag the FD!

OK sermon, over

My exact thoughts!

AGREED!

Just doesnt seem right, they do very well in that sport but I really dont think thats what Mazda had in mind!
Let alone the fact that parts and perf. parts for a chevy/ford V8 can be had for alot cheaper than the FD stuff.

Great words!! Here in the UK my RX-7 FD owning friends all drag race, they are horrified to put their machines on the race track. i uphold the FD chassis' superiority single handed :-) It's not even very good as a drag car, too low a C of G and a power plant frame that apparently doesn't like continued shock loads through it. Mazda didn't engineer its chassis for this sort of abuse and waste <VBG> Put them somewhere that they can show their TRUE strength!

Euro Racing Trends

There are some great road circuits in the UK. Silverstone and Brands Hatch come to mine

How did drag racing become popular there? I thought Euros were all brought up on road racing and rallying? I've even read about super speedway ovals being built there? What's going on?

Maybe you guys misunderstood my post. I meant that the extra set of wheels and tires would be strictly used for drag racing. I use my car for all kinds of drivind and racing. I love that this car has such great handling characteristics. I just want to get a good set of tires and wheels for when I do take it to the drag strip. I use this car as a daily driver and don't want to be drivind on drag radials all the time. Maybe somebody can answer my question now. If I'm forgiven.
