FC Front Shock Mount

So I am in the process of installing some new shocks on my vert and I am curious about how to properly install the shock mount on the top spring plate. Do I need to press the bearing from the new shock mount (it's a KYB piece, not Mazda) all the way onto the metal spring plate? It doesn't want to sit flush after I've put a bit of press action on it and I don't want to destroy the bearing by pressing it on any further. I couldn't find any info in the FSM, so I am turning to the pros here. I've attached a crude illustration of what's going on if it helps.

Well, I'll end up answering my own question that may be helpful for the future. The KYB part's bearing is too small to fit on the top spring plate. I reused the OEM shock top and repacked the bearing and it fit perfectly over the lip. So basically the KYB part doesn't work from what I can tell.
