I'm fixing my suspension system with new bushings, paint, and springs. I was wondering if eibach pro lowering springs would work with the black Rx8 wheels i have. they lower the ride hight by 0.8''. i have the longer studs, and 8mm spacers (probably need more than 8mm) needed to install the wheels. will my tire rub the top? should i just get new stock springs?

i searched about the offset for the rx8 rims. all i could find is that its the same as the FD - FC wheel fitment. i searched for that as well but couldn't find anything. can anyone help me, im sure one off you knows it off hand.

The issue is going to be the front. Eibach lowers the front more than advertised and less in the back than advertised. Add in that you plan to use a spacer and I think you'll be lunching on those front fenders. If you roll the fenders, you should be fine.

The an additional idea would be to use a set of Koni shocks as you can use the adjustable perch to help out if you need it. Then if you decide coilovers is what you want/need, you can simply go with Ground Control coilover sleeves on the Koni's.

I have decided to go with Tokico Illumina Struts paired with Racing Beat Shocks and 8mm spacers on the front and back. If i could get people to share their thoughts/opinions on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, what's a good street tire size/brand for 18x8 RX8 Rims?

I assume you mean Racing Beat "Springs"? If so, you'll have rubbing and bottoming out issues. The Racing Beat springs are lower, but the spring rate isn't really increased enough to handle it properly. If you do some searches over the years, you'll see most FD owners who have tried the Racing Beat springs abandon them pretty quickly.

You might be able to use a damper which can provide either some adjustability or a little bit stronger. The Koni shocks have adjustable perches which can help out. Another thing to think about is the Illuminas are Tokico's old line of shocks. IMO, there is no reason to purchase those today unless you are just being cheap. Now, they aren't bad shocks; I have them on my car but I bought them 6-7 years ago. They are old technology so there is no reason to spend your money on them today. If you are going to get Tokico shocks, get their HTS line:

I would suggest something like H&R springs rather than the Racing Beat springs. Tokico has a kit with their HTS line which comes with springs. I have not seen the details on their springs, but that is also an option.

i thought i specified this but i have a second gen. what would be the ideal shocks and struts for my fc and whats a more affordable set

Well, you didn't mention the 2nd Gen part, but that's also my mistake for assuming an FD. I think that's mainly because I've seen more inquiries about FD owners wanting to use RX8 wheels rather than FC owners.

The Tokico Illuminas would be just fine. I'm not sure on the springs. I do see a lot of FC owners running Racing Beat springs, so they may not have the same issues as the FD springs.
