Critique my RacingBrake rotors (post track day)
Went to Buttonwillow last week for a track day. Crappy day. 2 sessions were black flagged after 2-3 laps b/c some dip ***** couldn't keep it on track. The other 2 sessions were often yellow for the same reason.
Here are a couple of pics of my rotors after the event. I was running Hawk HT10 pads. They look crappier than normal. I've never seen this kind of deposits on the rotors and I'm thinking that I wasn't able to get temps up sufficiently for the pads.
Thoughts?
I have another track day at Thunderhill with HookedonDriving Friday. Wondering if I should get some less aggressive pads before then.

'looks like another great reason to use temperature paint on the brake components... you sure have alot of pad on the rotors. maybe w all the cautions and yellows you weren't able to get them up to temp.
i will be out in 2 weeks w DTC 60s as per GooRoo's suggestion. i will spend alot of time bedding them in before i get to the track. i may experiment w a softer rear pad if i need some brake bias help.

The only time I saw HT-10s with pad smear like that is if I overheated them... Not underheated them. However I never had a consistent situation where I ran hard without getting them up to temp. Closest thing I can think of is in the rain at road america, but even there I had no issue.
My experience is that when they were cold (on the street) they made lots of dust and were noisy at low threshold braking, but they worked just fine and I didn't have any strange deposits. If you want to resurface the rotors just get some Hawk blues and drive them on the street cold for a couple days and anything on the rotor will be gone. I keep a set of blues around for just that purpose.
