correct offset

I have two questions:
1. I want to purchase some rims for my fd3 but I want to make sure I get the correct offset. I'm considering 18s but I'm not buying anything less than a 17. I heard that 8s will fit in the front (duh) and 9s maybe even 10s in the back (with correct offset). I was also told that I should get a rim with a 5x114.3 lug pattern and 45mm offsets on all corners. Is this right?
2. I plan on lowering my car too. I'm not sure if I should get adjustables or just a good set of springs. I am interested in Tien's new suspention (one with electric damper controller). I just don't want to end up buying rims that wont tuck under the stock fenders.
Any info on these topics would be great. Especially the Tien suspention. I don't know anyone who's tried them out. Thank you for your time.

you should check the suspension/wheels section - there's LOTS of info on wheel/suspension combinations, sizes, offsets, etc. You can probably find the exact wheels you're looking for and what sizes to get them in in that section.
as far as the TIEN goes, take a look at JIC. again, that has been covered ad nauseum in the other section.
have fun & take some pics when you get everything together.

Where it should be. I am one of the "resident experts over here" and hopefully can be one of the few to help isolate what would be most suitable for your needs.
Suspension comes down to your budget. EDFC, don't worry about it. Waste of money and just another electronic gadget on an FD. If your stuff is setup right or you ahve a couple "setups" for different functions, you'll set it and forget it.
I would highly suggest the JIC FLT-A2, I am a firm believer that it is the best bang for your buck allowing you to retain good ride quality and gain a huge improvement in handling.
Also, with regards to wheels please PM me your budget and a style you like. I can then cross reference the fitments along with your driving needs. At that point we should have a good answer and decision.
See ya, Rishie

well I was upset since my thread was moved "where it should be" which I agree with except that everyone says nobody responds to any of the threads posted here. I took everyones advice and posted my thread in the 3rd gen forum. Sorry to **** you guys off but you have to expect people to constantly ask the same questions since everyone is new at one time or another. My fd is my second "project" I sold my 300zxtt to buy it. As fas as piston engines go I know my way around but know I'm trying to learn as much as possible about my next "investment" I used to work in a paintball store and everyday I would hear the same questions. All you can do is tell them the truth and tell them to pass the word on. But you have no right to tell them of just because they're new. I'm not saying you guys had the intent to make me or anyone else mad but it kind of hurts when you feel you're making a good decision by asking questions instead of f**king things up and you get all these "old timer" complaints. I'm sorry if you guys are fed up with the same old s**t but you don't have to respond to any of the idiot threads. The info I posted about looking for a 5x144.3 lug pattern and 45mm offsets I found in the wheels and tire section. I did look at the info threads first, and still I couldn't find the answer I was looking for so I posted it in the 3rd gen forum. I sorry if it seems like I'm whinning which I probably am I just get upset when I take peoples advice and then I get bi*ched out for it later. I thank you guys for your info though. I plan on spending about 2,500 for suspension and the same for rims. Maybe more if it's worth it. Do keep the info coming. Sorry this is so long but thank you if you took the time to read it. Thanks.

we're trying to help you out by pointing you in the right direction - the low post count means you might not even know this section exists... hence our pointing you here and giving you good info.
If you know the wheel you're looking for (from your last post, it sounds like you do) - ask ARD T2 about it, he's the man with all the answers. Make sure to keep in mind weight and width.
and take pics when it's done, damnit.

now let's all make like Fonzy....
Rishie can most certainly help you. Since you are looking to spend a few $$$ you will want to deal with someone who knows the FD. That said here is what I have on my FD, Front 18x9 +42 offset with 255-35-18, on the rear 18x10 +49 offset with 285-30-18. The rear fit is prefect, but the front need more offset something around +45 or more, or I could use a smaller tire like a 245-35 18. The problem with the front is the tire grabs the fender lip and pulls it out when turning into a driveway. BTW my car has Eibach spring and Koni shocks that are set to lower it even more. 17" rims on the back may fit a little different due to the angle of the trailing arm. There is a thread one page back titled "285 on the rear" that has some good info and a couple pictures of mine. Keep the questons coming, it is a little "slower" here but there are some really good people to help.

jr426, outstanding answer! n2trbl didn't even thank you! And newbies wonder why the veterans don't answer the same old questions over and over. One reason is for the thankless newbies that sponge the info and move on WITHOUT passing it on! That said, thread closed!
