just flared my fenders so car looks high. I have the tein s tech springs dropped 1" but still looks high. but have bad experiences with coilovers in the past (not with my FD). see pics, think I need to drop it about 1" more what setup would you guys out there recommend.
much appreciated,
Lazaro

You might want to look a Tein Flex or MonoFlex, or Stance Pros.

LOTS of options in that budget. IMO Tein is over-rated and you pay a hefty brand premium for their products, not saying they don't produce a quality product - but you can do better. For new under 2k, I would get the HKS coilovers, they are $1600 and you aren't going to do much better for a new set. Yes, HKS isn't exactly known for being cheap but they make a superior product IMO.

If you go used, you open up a TON of new options including Aragosta ($3500 MSRP), Ohlins PCV ($2800 MSRP), Quantum ( $3900 MSRP) etc. Zeal's are also another great option, they make coilovers for street applications to strictly track. Only downside is you run the risk of them needing an over-haul, but you are not going to get any better then the coilovers I just listed unless you go the Penske route which would be easily $5000+.

I will be personally running either Aragosta or Quantum's on my car - and my car only gets the best of the best.

They're new, but they have been proven on the track.

For 3000, I would be looking at Ohlins or Penskes

Looking into some Endless Function Xs or some Used OHLINS.

I wouldn't touch HKS or any other manufacturer that doesn't have a rebuild or repair facility here in the US.

Teins are a decent budget option. AutoRND here on the forum can probably help you out in your selection. He offers a few different options for different budgets.

Just go with Tein Flex or Stance GR+, keeping it simple. Honestly, I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference between all the coilovers being listed in this thread.

HKS USA and APEXi USA can service their products here.

So can Ohlins, Penske, Aragosta, and Endless.

I like coilover discussions as I will be upgrading to a set soon, but everyone is quick to offer opionions and I'm sure these are all great products. the first question I'd ask is what's the spring rate that I would be comfortable with?

HKS? Really? Must be relatively recent. 5 years ago, friend of mine couldn't get his coilover serviced. HKS told him he was SOL.

On the street, probably not. However, on the track you would DEFINITELY notice a difference between a set of Tein's and a set of Ohlins.

To someone who would know how to use them, yes. However, there is a small percentage of people on this forum compared to the number of members who have enough experience to make use of the higher end coilovers on a track.

Not everyone needs "the best". Most of the time, they just need "better" than what they current have.

Depends on many things.

If he grey marketed the item in, or didn't have the invoice.

When i worked at Tanabe/SSR we never warrantied items/serviced items that were "grey marketed" in. Think of it as trying to get my R32 GT-R serviced/warrantied at a Nissan dealership here.

It's not like HKS coilovers are some super secret coilover that is so hard to rebuild by any quality suspension shop or overhauling service.

Also, a lot has changed since 5 years of HKS being in the USA.

It's more like the US distributor of the brands rebel against people importing used coilovers because they didn't make the money on their sell to begin with. The R32 analogy isn't quite the same... the US Nissan dealers don't have the parts &never sold the model whereas Tanabe, HKS, or Tein do sell the same models and could do the service.

I've done a little poking around before to no avail, but can you provide me the contact info for Aragosta's US service center/branch? I have a set of St. Boeso that may need some service.

This site only provides contact info for Belgium: http://www.aragosta-suspension.com/

They're currently having a special for $2000 as a special introductory price. I'm trying to get some people together as it's a special order.
