go with stance. teins are too expensive now (their 1200$ coilovers are crap). i bought flex's back when they were 1100.. and now theyre 1800! damn yen conversion..

AutoRnD would be rx7clubs primary supplier of coilovers and wheels. so yah, he has a set for sale.

theres also ebay.. (dont buy used)

used is okay if you're learning and they are dirt cheap. Don't spend anymore then $500 on a used set unless they have 10 miles on them and by used not some no name crap. I started out on a fresh set of JIC FLTA-2's and now I have the Parts Shop Max coilover, not to pitch a shameless plug for PSM but they ride a lot better then the JIC's and are a lot more adjustable.

I think Tein is one of those you get what you pay for brands, cheap performance on the cheaper product and better more refined on the higher end models. Ask people what their experiences are man you'll get answers!

TEIN isn't bad.
I had TEIN R A (not ha) those were good stuff, but not for street.
I read on here that flex and ss have the same internals as they were opened up and compared to.

i actually like my stance, but I'd suggest 7/5 spring rates if available.
i dont know anything about drifting. maybe they use stiff springs like 10/8. that's going to suck when you drive it on the street. I hated it. Now I have 8/6 and it's much better for me.

Here: Enjoy the pix my stance

I did a quick look and came across Tein Flex in the $1450 range. So it's definitely gone up so it's less of a bargain, but I think for the extra quality reassurance from their much longer time doing this with good results, it's still worth it.

+1, keep your rates "low" if you want to street drive it. 7/5 is plenty stiff for track use with R's, so it'll be more than enough for street tires and drifting.

Yes, but not me, I chose Tein Flex for their KNOWN long turn durability, the ability to get them rebuilt and re-valved for different spring rates (Stance doesn't do that), and I'd known a number of people who have them and quite liked them, plus they're very well regarded as a good street/track budget minded setup.

Ever hear of PoweredbyMax?

I've visited their shop in San Diego. They cater mostly to s13's but they do make a set for the FC. Their suspension arms for the S-chassis look sturdy enough and everything is competively priced. $1000 for a set of coilovers. If you're looking for something for drifting and don't mind the harshness they look like another good alternative. Haven't heard anything bad about them yet.

Well since you haven't heard anything bad, let me be the one to break the news to you. They're a complete unknown. They just came out, when, last year? That means that long term durability is a gamble, and I'd bet that you'll loose on that front. I've never seen any shock dyno of them, and typically the cheap ~$1000 range coilovers have horrible damping and each shock is very different, meaning sometimes one side at full stiff isn't as stiff as the other side on full soft (I've seen a dyno of a KSport with that happening). Also, I HATE, repeat, HATE, their camber plates. They've directly coupled camber and caster, which is absolutely the wrong way to go. If you want to adjust both, make it independant, or make it single adjustable only, for camber, and leave caster in about the center. This is especially critical if you've got manual steering, as with those if you want to run any sort of camber for grip you'll have to choose between insufficient caster, and horrible steering effort from excessive caster.

As you may be able to tell I'm not a fan of cheap, relatively new to the market brands and these especially. They've taken a STUPID design and are trying to use it to take advantage of the ignorant by calling it a "feature".

Part number???

I'm trying to set up my 88 vert for drift and I just want to make SURE that if I get coil-overs they will fit. As far as I know, They're interchangeable. I think the sway bars are different and thats it. Does anyone know for sure? (searched)

Any FC coilover will fit your car. If you go that way, talk to Rishie at AutoRnD and get him to hook you up with the 8/6 rates, it'll ride better on the street and there's no need to go stiffer.

I have heard nothing but bad experiences from the garbage coming out Japan. If you have the money look into a mono tube design from hotbits. They are a rally based company but they do make sport suspension aswell. They also do in house rebuilding for about $75 per corner. http://www.hotbits.ca/ .

You must not get out much then. Sure there's some stuff that's sub-par, but most of the crap isn't coming from Japan, it's the K-Sports, D2's, Megan Racings and such that are crap. Tein, Zeal, etc are some very reputable brands with widespread praise from the owners.

Those Hot Bits coilovers are made in Malasia, not exactly known for high quality, high tech or anything along those lines.

These look yummy. VERY. I'm pretty settled on saying f the turbo II engine and buying a set of real quality coilovers myself when i get my tax refund.

Anywho, i believe the op means china. For the price you'd pay for ksports, d2's or the like, you could buy tein, kei office, silkroads, used jic's/hipermaxes........

Buying used is no problem, just as long as you make sure the coilover threads are in GOOD or near PERFECT shape. If they're blown, no biggie. You can rebuild them for about $300, so if you get sweet *** blown coilovers for $300 or less and rebuild them, you're right at the price of new china coilovers.

BC coilovers? I thought you meant buddy club or brian crower. Who the hell makes bc coilovers? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...4506.m20.l1116

I HAD STANCE AND THEY FELL APART.

the front pass shock loosened up.

when i had car racked up, i could move the wheel up and down.

this happened when my friend (drives like a maniac) had my car for 2 weeks, when i went skiing.

i'm not even mentioning the upper pillow ball mount binding problem.

also in the rear the strut casing was rubbing on trailing arm.....

i'm not a hater, but this is my personal experience.

i bought my stances personally from rishie and he's good salesman, but for $1380 i paid for my GR + pros, i could add another $100 and buy silk roads or buddy clubs, my friends have and they dont have any problems with them.

even people with megans abuse their ***** all day and there is no clunking and no binding...

again, i'm not a hater, but this is my personal experience.

you can have different opinion and im perfectly fine with that.
