Can I install a new suspension by myself?

I am considering upgrading from stock suspension to Tokico/Suspension Specialties from Rotary Performance. I would like to know if I could install the shocks by myself. I have mechanical experience and I am comfortable doing this stuff. I guess I just need to know what is involved in doing this and what tools I need.

Do I really need a torque measuring device for tightening tolerances?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to save myself $300 labor costs on this upgrade.

Thanks,

This is actually quite an easy job. A torque wrench could help, but isn't really needed. Just make sure everything is tight. All you do is loosen the nuts/bolts connected to the shocks and the shock just easily comes out. Put the new shocks and there you go. The rear is especially easy because you don't have to go through taking apart the wishbone. But in the front you do, but it's still no big deal. Good luck.

Don't you have to remove the spring when you get the shock off? If so, don't you need a spring compressor to get it safely off and back on?

BTW, when you do change the shock, get a new set of dust boots (the black rubber boots and surround the shock). My original ones are falling apart.
