Buddy Club, Silkroad, or JIC?

I am look into getting coilovers for my FC that is my daily driver that will be used for track days also. I am currently looking into Buddy Club Racing Spec, Silkroads RM8, and JIC FLT-A2 coilovers. Which coilovers would be best and why?

Thanks

why not Tein Flex?
cost = very competitive
adjustability = great
servicable = well supported
setup = excellent for daily driving and trackschools... probably too soft for all out competitive use on a roadcourse but for autocross and everything but wheel to wheel circuit track competition, they are just right, IMHO.

I originally was looking into the Tein Flex coilovers. I stopped looking at the Teins because they might be a little too soft , not inverted, and are not monotube coilovers.

I think you have some good choices lined up. It is funny but my previous post was blasting a guy for posting in another thread because he just starts right in with, "why not go with this other product instead?" Well lets keep this thread on topic people. Tein is fine but it is not on this person's list of options and I would agree for good reason. We all have our opinions on what is best but there is no need to attempt to discredit this person's 3 options. I think we can assume he has alread looked at Tein and other brands and didn't like them for whatever reason.

So, as for your choices. I have heard that the JIC quality and service has gone down a bit from when they were very popular on the forum. Still probably a fine choice though. As for the other two I don't know much about them but if I were in the market today they are two of the brands I would look very closely at. I have a lot of info comparing coilovers on my website for 3rd gens but unfortunatly these two brands showed up after I made my choice. They are mentioned though. I believe rotary extreme http://www.rotaryextreme.com/ backs buddyclub and Chuck (the owner) can probably get you a great price as well as some product info. Best of luck.

Doesn't that eliminate most of your choices???
I've only seen line expensive Cusco coilovers with inverted tube design.
Why are you insisting on such expensive tech when it's your daily driver?
I doubt you'll feel the difference.

Are the Silk Roads serviceable in the US, or do you have to send those to Japan also?

lol, I agree... but... after spending as much money as he plans to, I'm sure he'll find a way to convince himself there is a difference... everyone usually does... even subconsciously.

Here is what I have found out so far:

Silkroads – One year warranty if installed professionally, have to be sent to Japan to be serviced (4-6 weeks), cost to rebuild?, a little over my budget.

Budd Club - One year warranty if installed professionally, have to be sent to Japan to be serviced (4-8 weeks), cost to rebuild $75-$100 each, I called Rotary Extreme and was told they ordered some for a FC 8 months ago and have not received them yet.

JIC – Would have to find the Japan Spec ones (the US ones suck), would not have a warranty with the Japan Specs coilovers, cost to rebuild $35-$260 each in US, service is questionable.

I started looking for some linear coils to replace my Eibach Pro Kit after a track day. I want get coilovers because everything is designed to work together not like piecing together coilovers with coilover sleeves and pillowball mounts. I would consider other brands and models if they are within my budget ($1500 or less). I could increase the budget but I also have to consider rear camber adjusters and an alignment after buying the coilovers.

Thanks

37FC3S, the US and JDM coilovers are the same, except they market the FLT-A1 here, which is the FLT-A in Japan.

I can vouch for Silk Roads and there qauity is excellent. Out of about 9-11 people I know of running them they have noit a had a problem with them. Their milegae thus far range from 2k-72k. Everyone I know taht ran JICS had them for less than 6months and got rid of them, Teins on the other hand were slightly better but leaking was a problem. Cannot say to much about Buddy clubs except I have heard of no problems, but the wait to get them.

Honestly do not base your purchase on a warrnty go for the best qauilty you can afford. I also beleive alot of the companies have changed them to a 6month warrnty rather than a 1 year (but don't qoute me on that). Second it it goes within a year then you are not picking a good coilover. The other thing with serviceablity I spoke with Apexi, Zeal, Tein, JIC and HKS this past summer and they said if it ONLY needs to be recharged the cost ranges from $40-200 (depending on model and company) ALTHOUGH, they said that in most cases they need more than just a rebulid and the cost cann really go up, so they actually suggest to just toss your set and buy a new set. Along with that of the comapnies that service here they only sevice recharging if it needs revalved/rebuilt whatever it still has to be sent to Japan and a good 2-4 months wait time, again that si why they recommend to buy a new set.

In short the warranty and serviceabilty is a waste, buy the best you can get for your money.

37FC3S, whats your budget? I may beable to help you out, my friend does some exporting from Japan and if you let me know what you want I can see what we can work out. PM or email me at sikokillr@aol.com

You really need to stop believing the hype.
You got a lot to learn still yet.

If this is a street driven car, I wouldn't recommend the JICs. I think they're a little too fragile to be driven day to day. I remember having mine rebuilt after 6 months and four autocrosses. They're great, but they're very touchy.

RETed can you explain what the hype is? I was originally was thinking Ground Control coilover sleeves or linear springs and pillowball mounts. I have decided to look for coilovers because I can not find stiff enough linear springs and the KYB AGXs were not designed to be lowered more than 1”. This doesn’t mean I have to get coilovers but, I don’t want to spend money to change my suspension twice if end up wanting coilovers or my suspension doesn’t work properly. What would you suggest?

Zeals are too expensive since I don’t use the car on the track enough and cost almost as much as I paid for it. You would think paying $1200+ for a set of coilovers that you would not have to spend $200 a 1-year warranty (install). I agree the warranty is a waste because you should not have any problems within a year, the cost to rebuild 1 is probably equal or cost less than the warranty, and you still would have to wait. Just because you have something “professionally” installed does not mean it will always bee done correctly.

Thanks
