Thumbs down broke anti-theft wheel lug socket

hey guys, i was putting some new wheels on my FD3 the other day, and i broke the adapter for the security lugs. I don't know if all three generations have these or not, so i figured i'd ask in here.

I might try jb weld on it, or take it to a machine shop and see if they can come up with anything. or if worse comes to worse, go buy 4 sockets to hammer onto the anti-theft lugnuts and wrench them off and get some new lugnuts.

has this ever happened to anyone else? i looked all over this piece for a part number, and skimmed thru my parts manual for it but couldn't find anything.

i was actually at a mazda dealership a little over a month ago, in the parts department, and i saw a few of these kits on display. and i sat there and thought, 'hmm, maybe i'll get a kit, just in case...'

anyways enough of me talking, here's the pic

You might be able to borrow one from a another RX-7 in the area. The only problem is that i think there are 6 different patterns so good luck find the same on. I also tried hammering on a regular socket but it just spun. So i took that off and used one of the impact wrench sockets, cast iron, and took my torch to it and they came off easy.

If they are factory locks a dealer might have a master set to remove them. Some car companys supply the techs with them so they don't have to use the customers wheel key.

im not exactly sure which size socket you can use...but measure the ones you have to try to fit it around the lock. your going to have to hammer it in so it fits tight and then you can rachet it off. your gonna have to buy 4 of them though and your not gonna be able to get your locks back.

i had a similar situation where i couldnt find my key. What i did was i called the dealer up and they tested each of the 6 keys. They should have them in stock and btw i think the key is like around 30 bucks or so

haven't had a chance to call the dealer yet, i might just hammer some sockects on. I think i'm just going to get rid of the anti-theft nuts for good, they're just a pain, and i've never heard of anyone's stock wheels being stolen, well around here anyway...

here's that pic that didn't upload before:

I believe that's the same style lock and key I have on my FC. Last year, I thought I had lost the key, so I ordered another one. I used the paper I found in my owner's manual. It comes from a company called McGard (I may be off on the spelling), and I think they're out of Buffalo.

When I got the new one in the mail, I found hte old one, it had rolled under the seat! So, I have two. I'm also thinking about just getting rid of them, they're a hassle, the key doesn't fit one of the locks quite right and I have to try for a couple minutes to get the stupid thing on.

If worse comes to worse, give me your address and I'll send you my extra key, I have no use for it.
