Brake Question

I need to replace my front brakes: pads and rotors, and was wondering what kind people recommend and where is a good place to get them.

I do mostly mellow street driving, but sometimes push things. I have the intention of getting into street cross in the near future.

I have heard that slotted/drilled rotors are a waste of money, so what is a good kind. Also I know most of you guys use the hawk pads. Are these really THE ONES to use.

BTW i still have rear drums

Thanks

For daily driving, and an occasional spirited drive, good quality stock replacement rotors are fine. I use Bendix semi-metallic pads on the front of my car, but thet are getting harder to locate. They do fine for daily driving, AutoX, and the occasional open track event. The only downside, they leave plenty of dust on my custom wheels.......
I'll prolly switch to Hawk HPS next time I need pads. I also have the drums out back, for now.....

slotted rotors are no waste of time or money, drilled on the other hand are.

+1 on the stock replacement parts though. I replaced the entire brake system with oem parts and mine stops like a dream.

i put cross drilled and slotted rotors on mine and havent had a problem with them yet. however i put on cheap brake pads a week before a track day, and after running on the circuit for a whole day, my pads were already down to the metal. so DO NOT GET CHEAP PADS!! lol, hawk has great pads that will last for daily and track events.
