Best Tire for 800rwhp Interstate

Hey Guys,

I'm sure some of you may think this is a silly question. However, this is my first time stepping up to the big league horsepower and I'm trying to make the best decision on how to survive

I've now stepped up from a 500hp 13b to 700-800hp 20b. I'm only using this car for show, driving around town, and the occasional high speed interstate pulls. I do not plan on road racing or drag racing until I have enough reserve funds to afford fixing more broken parts

My wheels are currently grossly undersized, 17x9 255/40 Khuml Ecsta street radials. These would burn through 1st and 2nd but held great in 3rd on interstate at 500hp.

Im looking for the grippiest tire available with the most stability on the interstate. Car will not see rain.

Iv narrowed it down to:

Nitto NT01
Toyo R888

Or

NT05r
MT E/T Streets

Which is the better choice if I'm not going to launch? A drag radial or a stiffer wall R compound?

I may consider cramming on 275's. Although, obviously its going to need widebody rears and 295's later.

And to rule out the following:

-I won't be driving in the rain
-I don't care about treadwear life
-Yes, ill likely snap input shafts and gears, I'm prepared for that

ET streets. Don't bother with anything else, just wasting money.

Definitely for drag racing, but my experience is ET Street radials even feel terrible at high speed due to their way too soft sidewall.

I have not been impressed with NT01 straight line traction.

I was more impressed with Maxxis RC-1 straight line traction over the NT01.

I haven't tried my R888 yet.

295 will fit front and rear with on 11" wide wheel with +45 offset- no need to widebody

If tracton is a concern, I would go with a smaller diameter wheel and run a wide wheel + tire with lower PSI to increase the contact patch longitudinally. 18's with wide stiff wall tires are exactly what you don't want if you really want traction.

go with a 16" widened wheel and run something on the wider side. or 17" 265-295" width and deflate pressure. Basically copy the drag guys.

I meant ET street radial, sorry. Those will give more stability over plain ET streets.

Yes... big difference between the ET Street and the ET Street Radial. You want the radial... great tire.
