AVON Tires, Tech M550 A/S

Anyone tried out the new Avon Tech All Season tires. I've worn out my Dunlop AS2's and looking to move up to 17" rims and some good handling tires. From my research it appears that for the price and quality the AVONs by Cooper Tire are the best buy on the market at this time and Tire Rack is one of the few dealers for this brand.

So no one has tried these tires or knows someone who has? They have the highest user rating for performance tires on TireRack.

If you want a performance tire, you need to stop looking at "all season" tires....

Here is a link to a Tire Rack page for the Avon Tech M550 A/S. On this page you will be able to find test results, customer surveys, and performance comparisons. Hopefully this will help you out. If i can be of any further assistance just let me know.

Need all season tires because my FC is a daily driver and I need well rounded performance in all conditions not just on a track. Went to Tire Rack yesterday and found a closeout deal on Dunlops SP Sport A2. They were half price so I got a set of 4 215/45x17 for the 17" gunmetal Victory wheels I that I ordered today from Discount Tires.

I'll mount the tires and replace the OEM 15" wheels that have been on the car for 16 years and then refinish the factory wheels for special occassions.

All season tires are for cars that see occasional snow....high performance tires actually handle better in the rain than all season tires (typically). Just letting you know for future purchases...

Thanks, When I replace the Dunlops on my new wheels I'll try a set of high performance tires, Toyo's or Nitto's. Besides getting the half priced Dunlop SP Sports limits the financial impact of buying new wheels and tires together. Next tires will go high performance.

I've run the Tech M500 for the past year. Its not A/S or an all out performance tire. They have been great in the rain and are sticky enough to gobble up other cars at HPDE's. The nice thing about lower perormance tires is that because of their lower limits they are more fun on the street and better to learn on.
