anyone run tokiko illuminas?

I've got a set on my car that i didn't install...sorta discovered them, anyways...i have a really crappy ride right now, and i was told to run all of the shocks on the softest setting...i can't figure out if that's 1 or 5, i also can't figure out how i know which number it's set on...there's no indicator or arrow

help?!

do you have the little red caps on the top of the shock?

there should be a screw driver slit in the center that you can turn. if the arrow on the part that turns is gone, do the following:
turn the adjuster with a screw driver
it should have distinct notches
only one of the ends of the screwdriver slit will line up with a corresponding setting number. this is the way that the arrow should point.

for example, if when turning the adjuster, one end of the slit is at 1 and the other end is between 3 and 4, it is set to 1. (which is the softest BTW)

you might want to paint a new spot or something on the correct end.

You can just use the red cap from the other side. It should line up correctly, if memory serves me, the red cap with the numbers only goes on one way.

I have eibach springs and tokiko's. I live in San Francisco where there are tons of pot holes. I have my front shocks set to "3" (medium) and my rears set to "1" (softest). This gives me a comfy ride with decent handling. Since the rear is set "soft", the backend has great traction and a lot less "tail-happy".

I have been very happy with my suspension

I have been very happy with my suspension for the last five years. I also just picked up a set of Tien Coilovers HR(non-adjustable dampening ) on ebay. I'm actually thinking about just keeping my tokiko's....Why mess with something that works?

Oh yeah, I recently installed a Pettit front (solid)sway bar for $199.00. It made a huge difference! The car corners almost flat without any sacrifice in ride quality. I highly recommend this mod to your set-up.

They do keep turning (normal) You can take the cap off any of the others and put it on the one thats missing. I don't leave mine on, only to adjust.

somewhere in one of the instructions on mine, if I remember. it saids to turn only clockwise to adjust.
So if you're at 5 turn clockwise to 1 and so on to desire setting.

that explains why it keeps turning forever

I was in the same boat when I got my Tokico's as I bought them slightly used, and not all the caps and adjust screws were included, and the ones that I did have were illegible.

I called Tokico and they sent me a set of new caps and adjuster screws at no charge, so I'd recommend doing that. They sent them real quick too!

I keep mine on softest (1) up front and (2) in the rear for street driving, and they feel better than my stock touring suspension did.

Good luck!
