Advice needed: How to eliminate understeer in my FC

please excuse my ignorance, but i need some advice pretty desperately.....
my FC understeers pretty badly, and it is really shitting me.

i bought a front strut tower brace, but it still understeers.

the previous owner of the car had removed the rear sway bar. should i have it re-installed?

should i buy polyurethane bushes for the car? Which parts of the car actually need the polyurethane bushes? just the sway bar at the front?

also, what is the rear toe-in eliminator that i read about in a previous post (Boostd7 mentioned it i think)...

i have KYB Coilovers in the front, and Bilstein Shocks with King Springs in the rear.

WHAT do i have to do to get my FC to point&shoot!

Many thanks for any replies.

add a bigger swaybar in the back, and take the front one off.

No front and a thick rear bar would make for a hairy ride. The front strut tower bar doesn't do any for under/oversteer. If the previous owned did something like remove something like the rear bar, he might have done some other ill conceived modifications that might bite you later. If you can get one that's an exact match for cheap, go for it. Or do like I usually say: why fix it when you can upgrade it? Get some upgraded bars. My friends in Japan tell me about Whiteline and how good it is. They get stuff for 180SX's, but good quality is good quality. Check out http://www.whiteline.com.au/ for suspension components. The rear steer (DTSS) is crap. At about .4G~.5G it creates some toe in making the rear twitchier. This is a passive system that seems to kick in when you want it the least (going around corners hard). Replace it. Racing Beat sells a Delrin bushing set for $40 USD. Good luck.

Um.. YEAH. Put the rear swaybar back on, then see how it goes. Don't remove the front by any means.

thanx!!

thanks 4 all the advice people!
i'll put the rear sway bar back in ASAP, i am also gonna buy polyurethane bushs for both the front and rear sway bars.

i checked the whiteline site,...and i can't see that they sell anything at all for 2nd Gen RX7's...all just series1, 2 & 3.

i am saving my pennies for a set of Tein type HA Coilvers that are height adjustable. they are usually about $5000AU or so, but i can get them an Import Wreckers for about $1000 in perfect nick too.

i just want to keep the power/braking.handling triangle totally perfect in my FC. I will be over the moon when i get this fucken understeer fixed.

Well as far as advice goes. The stiffer front makes for more understeer. The less roll the front has the more likely the rear will stay planted. This also means it will push more. So if your having problems pushing through turns already you need to make the rear stiffer. That means putting the rear sway bar back on. That should be enough. Also you may see the rear sway bar is going to make it oversteer some so at that point adding poly bushing to the front sway bar would make it just right. I did this and its about perfect now. Of course its a 3rd gen but its the same concept.

Perry, the Series IV is listed. They have the front/rear adjustable bars, both for about $410AU (that's about $215 in good ol' greenbacks). The non-adjustable front/rear bars are $290AU (that's about $150US after a very favorable exchange rate). Look up model# BMF28 or BMR28. They are there.

Here is what I would do to eliminate once and for all the understeer problem:

1. Install the rear sway bar - the previous owner was obviously no tuner in the suspension department.

2. Talk to Rice Racing. Comments follow

3. Install a nice suspension kit from some reputable company and have it installed by some reputable place

4. Have Rice Racing install for you a single turbo motor - say around 350-450 hp. This will give you the point and shoot ability you coined in the start of your thread. If you want to steer with the gas, just push a little more...
