Are the old bushings out of the OEM rx7 M/C required, or can you simply use the new 929 bushings that already come in the 929 M/C? Are they different sizes for the reservoir nipples, or something?

I think there is a slight difference. If you have both nearby, measure them for us.

Can anyone elaborate on this, is this part a direct bolt on for an FD?

Mostly direct. The brake lines need some love to get in place. Crispy seems to have bent or made a new line. The brake shop that installed mine got the stock line to fit. Read through his install and you'll get a better idea of what is involved.

Just so everyone is on the same page, this mod decreases the amount of braking per pedal force, and decreases pedal travel, assuming you have the same calipers and booster. The pedal feels harder because you are decreasing the brake pedal's mechanical advantage.

It's fine if you're tuning your brakes for feel, and you can still easily lock them or engage ABS. Just know that when you really stomp the brakes (say 100 lbs), the 929 MC will be making about 12% less braking force than the stock MC would have made.
