4 Piston Caliper Rebuild Help...
So I am in the process of rebuilding my calipers and have run into a slight issue. Everywhere I can get a rebuild kit for has all the clips and seals for the 4 pistons but nobody can tell me where I can find the 4 washers (2 per caliper) that I need to go between the caliper halves
Does anybody have a part number or anything, or am I off to Home Depot / Lowes to go hunting in the plumbing section again?

That being said, I have split them open and reused the existing o-rings in their respective positions.
Failing that, you could replace them, but you're on your own for size, and anything you find for residential plumbing will not be rated for the extreme temperatures or corrosiveness of brake fluid.
Correct, they are not included. Mazda specifically says not to separate the two halves during rebuilds of the calipers in the FSM. Since it says not to split them, it doesn't list a part number either in the parts fiche.

Yea, I am aware it says not to split them, but there is no other way to fully inspect them and re-hone the piston bores if needed... and since mine had almost 250,000 miles on them, I kinda wanted to make sure they were still good

Guess the search continues haha.
rebuild calipers are like 60 bucks (plus core) at napa or wherever. considering the cost of the rebuild kit, and the time/trouble involved, i thik its totally worth it.
i rebuilt my calipers, and they started having problems within a year, so i just went to Napa.

Plus the car is on jack stands so it isn't a big hurry for me. I don't mind taking my time and doing it myself. The only issue so far has been this one little seal
I might just call some places that do rebuilds and see what they do... they either re-use them all or have to have a source of parts...
what you think is a small issue (finding that seal) is a huge undertaking and way too much work!
trust me on this, if you need to spend time re-honing your brake caliper bores then you need to buy some reman's instead.
I rebuilt my 4-pots with almost 200k on them and they were in fine shape except for a little crustyness at the outer edge that was easily removed with some fine grit sandpaper by hand.

these calipers dont get honed, its not an old chrysler. the seal is in the caliper, and the piston slides on it. the piston is the wear surface.
the aftermarket is actually pretty good, the seal kit is cheap, but the pistons are not. if you need one piston, its cheaper to buy the reman caliper
