245/40/17 + stock suspension on FD3S... Any rubbing issue?

Hey guys,

First off sorry for making a new thread about this... Sometimes its the only way to get the answer you are looking for.

Ok, so i bought some brand new nexen 7000 245/45/17's from a local tire shop a few weeks ago... My wheels are A-tech Final speed forged 17x8.5 front and 17x9.5 rear. Not sure on offset (how can i check that?)

The 245 width fit great on both front and rear wheels, but when i went over bumps my front tires were rubbing on the fender liners.... And in a hard corner the rubbing was really bad..

I had originally wanted 245/40/17, but the 245/45/17 was all that was available at the time. However now the 245/40/17 are available in the nexen 7000's. I went back to my tire shop and told them about the problem, they agreed to order brand new 245/40/17's at no additional cost.. i just want to make DAMN sure that these size doesnt rub.

My car has stock suspension.... Will i still have tire rubbing with this size???

Thanks a lot guys.

i think the offset should be printed on the inside of the wheel spokes. whether these will fit will definitely depend a lot on what the offset is.

Ya i just checked every angle of the rims... no info is given about the offset.

This all of the info i can find..

http://www.marukanet.co.jp/a-tech/forged.html

So im guessing that the front offset is 40 and the rear offset is 35??

Well honestly can't answer this question without knowing the offsets for sure.

I hope you got:

17x8.5 +40
17x9.5 +42

Nexen Tires are absolutely terrible tires for the FD imho. If you want some cheap tires that are decent then get the Falken ZE912.

You can and should run these sizes imho:

255/40/17 and 275/40/17.

That should just barely clear the rear fender depending on your alignment settings.

If you do in fact have the +35 offset in rear get ready to roll your fenders.

Also try and compare the tire diameters on your front and rear tire. You don't want them to be drastically different.

if you want more help then

Take a picture of the backside of the wheel, where the wheel touches the brake rotor and i'll see if I can find the offset for them.

It might say

"ET35"

ET42

something like that

Ok, so i washed the inside of my wheels and there was the factory stickers on them.

Rear wheels: 17x9.5 +35 offset

Front wheels: 17x8.5 +30 offset

Tires are 245/40/17 nexen 7000's on all fours.

Based on the Excel FD fitment calculator that is on in the FD fitment thread, I'm surprised you didn't have any rubbing with your front 17x8.5 +30 wheels before. What tire did you have one these wheels before that didn't rub in front? The calculator says that that front wheel shouldn't work. The 245/45/17 had a diameter that is 20mm larger than the 245/40/17. That means 10mm both up and forward. If you can see where the tire is rubbing and see if another cm clearance will solve your problem, then the 245/40/17 may work.

I chickened out on some 245/40/18s because they were almost an inch larger than stock diameter.
