Tuning My S-AFC II myself?

I am getting an S-AFC II very soon, and I was wondering if with a little reading and help from you guys I could do a basic tune on it myself. I have a 90 GTU N/A so detonation is not a big problem right. I am very smart and learn quickly so any help on this is appreciated. I also live in Santa Cruz, CA so if I have to, where would be a cheap place to get it tuned?

The biggest help is a wideband A/F ratio gauge.

Even a cheap narrow band gauge is better than none.
It will tell you when you're in closed or open loop.
The S-AFC effects only open loop operating perameters.
(It has no effect in closed loop)

And - if you accidentally advance the timing, detonation can still crack an apex seal.

A wideband runs $300-600.
If that's over budget, you can start with a $60 narrow band gauge.
It connects to the stock O2 sensor wire right at the ECU.
When the narrow band AFR is not bouncing (closed loop) you can lean the low THR map from rich back to stoich at each RPM range.
