For the record, after servicing my friend's 02 Miata, I hereby declare them more finiky than RX-7s. Holy crap is that car... wierd. It all started with the car starting to surge in the low to mid rpms. Then the car began to stumble/stall intermittently at idle. THEN eventually the car would decide when it wanted to fire back up after being turned off/stalling. First we replaced the fuel filter and at 100k miles boy was that a sludged out unit. The fuel backflowing out of it looked like sewage. Then we drove it around a bit and still the same issue. Then it also dawned on me that my friend only drives on 2 gallons of gas at a time (Yea, i know right) and probably starved the pump slightly quite a few times. So we replace the pump with supposedly a an OEM replacement although not a pump from Mazda. That sum-bitch is a loud pump and the car would now fire up 99% of the time you wanted it to but still ran rough and stalled. Then the car stopped wanting to fire up, even when I had my car jumped to it. Put a multimeter to the battery while it cranked on its own and the battery was only putting out like 3.5 volts! So, we replaced the battery and the car now fired up all the time but still surged and died from time to time. We cleared the ECU and once again posted on the miata forums and a guy suggested driving around with the gas cap off for a little then putting it back on. Sure enough the car hasn't had a hickup since. Seriously??? seriously??? the friggen gas cap makes the car work when 400 dollars worth of shhhh-crap get replaced?

Yeah, I haven't gotten around to polishing the wheels up yet. And I gotta clean a food stain out of the passenger foot area.
Jac-wee, you should have seen my camera right before i took the picture. An icon with an exclamation point next to a hand with shakey lines around it pops up
