TX I'm still.........

.....GOING I already missed a day of class and Work I am not going to let some rain keep me away from my monthly fix of RX-7's and freebirds. I don't know who else is going but I am whither or not anyone else shows up. I don't mind that you guys decided to cancel but this decision should have been made last night not hours before the meet is scheduled. I specifically get the 2nd Tuesday off just to make it to these meets, and i don't intend to miss one because of "lack of precipitation" 35% chance???

At the time I made the call the chance of rain was rated from 60 to 90% on multiple websites.

I received responses from 9 people saying they weren't coming because even if it didn't rain they weren't going to get out on the dirty roads versus 2 replies saying they didn't care either way.

Sorry if it's inconvenient for you, but sometimes you have to pull the trigger. I would have made the call earlier, but last nights weather seemed to indicate it would all be out of here by noon to 2 o'clock.

DKJ - first I respect your Presidential Decisions. What you say is final...

but I have to agree with Spidey and Venom that it really sucks *** to cancel a meet at such late notice. I know at least a few people went anyway because they called me and asked WTF and were was everyone.

In my opinion (for whatever its worth), I think that at least 24 hours notice should be given of a reschedule or the meet should go on rain or shine. In actuality, I think nothing short of a pending hurricane should stop the meet. Those who are going to show up will still show up. Those who won't show up will just have a better excuse as to WHY they didn't show up.

Its Texas mang - its prolly going to rain its *** off at the rescheduled meet anyhoo.

I was at the Skeeters meet that was raining cats, dogs, gerbils, and goldfish. We really did have a great time anyway.

I understand where you guys are coming from and I do agree it does "suck ***" to cancel a meeting whether it be one, two or 72 hours before the event, however I would rather **** a few people off in the sake of safety than risk potential liability because someone was injured to, from or at a club meeting. Personally, I'd rather not ever have to deal with a negligence suit because I encouraged our boys (and girls) to come out under less than acceptable circumstances. I know that sounds like such a responsible parental thing to say, but sometimes I have to be that bad guy. You know eat your veggies, clean up your room, take out the trash, etc,!!

Some parts of the area cleared up nicely I understand, others had tornadic activity even in the afternoon. So as in the case last night the meeting "in name" was called off, but if several chose to go anyhow. Good for them, I hope they had a great time as individuals they have the right to make that choice. For the rest of us, the meeting will happen next week. IF you went this week and feel like doing it again next week that's awesome as well. It's not like I cancelled the meeting just so I could stay home and watch the season finale of Glee.

^^^ One guy was 95% en route and turned around when I told them it was cancelled and the other person showed up and no one was there. If they want to chime in and complain, thats fine.

I'm done for now. I'll have a few beers at Freebirds next Tuesday and bitch some more to whoever wants to listen.

^^^ Dunno.

I don't have one and I don't think anyone is currentlly selling them.

There was a thread looking for potential designs a while back but it turned into the usual ***-clownery.

Best thing is for you to make some yourself and sell the extras to offset the cost.

Can't please everyone. Thanks for making the call Doc. I wasn't going to be able to make it last Tuesday anyway so I'll just consider myself lucky that it got rescheduled.
