RX-Club of Houston August Meeting - August 5th 2008

Greetings everyone,

It's time to get together at Barry's as we begin to say goodbye to the sweltering days of summer. Our August meeting will be held August 5th at Barry's Pizza located at the corner of Richmond and Fountainview. As always all Mazda's are welcome to come out and join the fun.

We will have a couple of Mazda giveaways up for grabs. In order to be eligible you must post your RSVP to this thread before August 5th.


-- Don't forget to order your food at the bar and ask them to bring it out. This works much better than the traditional waiter method.

-- We will also be looking for recommendations for our 2009 calendar. So bring your ideas and let's see what we can do.

ouch thats gonna be a little rough, i didnt even think to check the calender for the day. hahah hurm why cant you guys have it on the weekend lol all good, will see.

 

We do things on the weekends too... we had a scenic drive a couple of weeks ago and there was the big 1320 event out at LMP.

... unfortunately, not many people really show up on weekend events.

 

Well that sucks. There really is not big mazda meet in texas... atleast not that ive seen. It be nice to do it up kinda like the honda tech guys do, But that might just be pissing into the wind, as mazda enthusiast are far and few.

I think it's mostly a problem within the RX-world.

They are having a Miata meet in Dallas with over 500 Miata's... the Mazda3/Protege guys are getting together in Austin and have over 200 people planning to attend.

We have organized clubs in Houston, Austin and Dallas, but getting everyone together hasn't worked since 2003. We had about like 50 or so people at that event.

I'd be more than willing to get something going statewide if there was interest.

We've often considered getting everyone together for a camping weekend at Lake Somerville or Canyon Lake or some other state park that offers good driving roads in the local area. PM me if anyone is interested and I'll do some research.

 

I will be there but my 7 is out of action with its broken Front U-joints plus she isn't road legal yet. Does it matter how many people I bring? Is there any fees or anything I have to pay upfront to join?

 

No fee's, and for the number of people, it doesn't matter as long as they don't get wild. You know what i mean..

 

Lake summerville is nice been there alot. Just really depends on when you go. Id say yes we should try to shoot for a tx area meet. I think it would just depend on the lead time you give people and the amount of publicity it would get. Just need people posting it on all sorts of fourms.

 

I post on all the major (and lesser) Mazda forums.

 

Then I will be there then. I will probably bring my dad and brother along. What does the meeting start?

 

why would you need a taxi, don't you have the most reliable FD never made? :shrug:

I think it is the most reliable FD (excluding Mine), it still starts, just doesnt move very well.
