Reputable shop in Houston?

'Ello.

I've browsed these forums for quite a while just picking and choosing what I'll do when I get out of college. But now, I have a question that needs an answer.

My Aunt got her first car brand new off the line. It was a 1984 Mazda Rx7. She has it to this day. I was talking to her about the car, and she said that the mechanic that used to work on her car went out of business. As you all know, many many mechanics do not do well with 7's.

She said she was actually considering getting rid of the car because she cannot find another reputable mechanic to work with. She's had this car for it's entire 25 year life span. Please, if you know of a good mechanic let me know. It'd kill me to see her 7 go to somebody that isn't me.

Thanks so much in advance.

Hello Aubrey,
What kind of work is needing to be done? I don't know of any rotary specific shops in Houston, however there are a few of us around here that know how to work on these cars. If she just needs someone to do the routine maintenance on it then maybe you should learn how to do it and take care of it for her. That'd be a great way to prove to her that you're a good second owner for the car. If not, then she should just sell it to me. :-) I'd recommend RX7Nut13B for any kind of work you may need, he's the man....a busy man, but the man none the less. I'm sure he'll post in here shortly.

It's not that I don't know how to do the work, nor that I wouldn't do it. I've been under the hood of cars since I got my first one. :P (Believe me, I consider it a privilege just to get to ride in it once a year. It's gorgeous... Looks like it's brand new still)

She's looking for a shop that warranties their work and whatnot. The Mazda dealership won't touch her car because of how old it is. I don't know of any other places that I'd really trust around Houston.

Again, thanks for the input. ^^

Edit: Somehow I neglected to answer your question lol. Right now she said something about struts and brakes. She wants a reputable shop because she tried a person and they took the money and ran. A crappy thing to happen, but it does.

Brakes are not a problem, but suspension work isn't my favorite.

I don't charge for labor until the job is done, but I do charge for parts.

If i did the work it would be at least 2 months out.

Yeah, she should just give you the car...or better yet, sell it to me. :-) Sorry I'm not more help, I do all the work on my cars. I think her only option is to go to one of the big name stores and hope they don't screw it up.
