Swap Meet
Don't know if this is in the 13 pages of posting, but the "Southwest Swap Meet" is at Ranger Ballpark in Arlington on Sept 23/25. 3000 to 4000 vendors at this one. Its the biggest one in this part of the country. Something for everone. Come early.
It'll go something like this...
Friday: people arrive and do whatever they want. I've heard of parties and I've heard of racing. Nothing is in stone b/c of the various times people will get here.
Saturday: BBQ starts at 11am but the organizers will be there pretty early to start setting up and getting ready to go. Each car will be greeted as they arrive and directed to their respective parking areas. They will be given their raffle tickets and their car numbers as they arrive. Raffle prizes will be given away about every hour, depending on the number of people. Lunch will be there around 12-12:30. Mingle and vote on the award categories throughout the day. Play some football, toss the frisbee, drool over the cars... Votes will be tallied and awards will be given out around 4-5, depending on the flow of the BBQ. The organizers will pack up what they brought shortly after but the party goes until the last person leaves.
Sat night, we're talking about meeting up at a pub near the hotel in Arlington called Sherlocks. Live band, good music and dancing with pool tables and a restaurant attached. Usually a good mix of crowd. Of course you can do whatever you want, but we wanted to make something available for everyone to particpate in. What happens after Sherlocks is TBD, but that's where we'll start.

Well...
I'm not worried about fitting the people... as with any event, I personally am expecting 2/3rd of registrants to actually attend. My fellow organizers, however, think we'll have even more than those who have registered.

Dazy,
You may be able to utilize this event to help the hurricane victims, has this thought been entertained or? Maybe have some type of goods or fund from the participants etc? I'm looking at ways maybe our club down here can help so I thought I'd throw it out there since you'll have way more people from all over as opposed to our local gig etc.

We've got another sponsor!!!
I have great news everyone -- we've just added FRITO-LAY to our sponsor list!!! They're giving us chips and drinks to help out with the food for everyone at the BBQ.
If you haven't registered for the BBQ already, REGISTER TODAY by clicking on my signature. This is NOT something you are going to want to miss!!!

I think we're making the Quad-State BBQ an annual fall event, but the Tulsa guys are having their BBQ in the spring. If there's enough interest this go around, we can all caravan up there. There were 4 8's that went this past May and we were the ONLY DFW representation.
Hmm. Sounds interesting. I think I'd be the odd man out, I don't really know anyone going...other than maybe one or two people...plus I drive a Nissan Maxima...another strike against me. I think I'd be out of my element, but sounds like fun.

The meet is for rotary enthusiasts, not just owners. If you can stand to listen to these guys on the boards, then you deserve to come to the BBQ and trash talk back to their faces!!
Besides, free food. Need I say more?
