New to the DFW area
Hi, I'm going to be moving to the DFW area within the next two weeks. I have a 450rwhp FD with a half-bridge 13B-REW.
Right now I'm looking at two different jobs in different areas. One is in Denton and the other in Southlake. That being said, my FD is registered in NM and it didn't require emissions testing. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to be able to register my car when I get there.
I'm looking forward to attending meets. I didn't attend too many while I was stationed in Japan the last few years.

If you get a job near Southlake there is plenty to do there, a lot better than Denton. Do you think your car will pass emissions? If not there is always other ways to get one lol. Good luck on where ever you get your job, there is plenty to do in the DFW and some decent meets every month.

Yeah, I was in Ft Worth last week for interviews. I really like the Southlake area. Denton wasn't too bad, but not a whole lot going on.
My car will not pass emissions. When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton and my FD was registered in CA, I had a hookup. I will need one in TX as well. I hope it won't be too difficult to find a "flexible" testing facility.

Titorx7, thanks man.
I don't think I will have a chance in March to do anything car related. I have a ton of training to do for my new employer in Denton. My FD is also in California still. As soon as the body work and paint is done, I will have it shipped here. I need to start looking around for a "hookup" for my FD's registration. I have a reliable connection in CA, I'm hoping it won't take too long to find one here.

I'm confused as to why you say your car barely passed emissions if it was basically stock? I'm about to register my car in Texas and the list ive saw on their DPS website shows very basic things they check for... besides the OBDII.

All I have is a downpipe and exhuast, took it to 3 places and 2 turned me down because my tail lights were "tinted"...They are factory tail lights, was some bs. I ended up taking my car to Mazda since I know they better know their own damn cars. They didn't say one thing about the tail lights of course, but I failed the test regardless. I failed like 2 things, would have to look at my sheet. I talked to the guy doing the test and he recommended some denatured alcohol think it was called Always Pass or something like that. I went home cleaned out my EGR valve witch had a lot of build up and ran the denatured alcohol in the gas tank. Made sure to get the car warmed up good before taking it in and passed the 2nd time.
I dunno, you may pass on your first time, but I know I failed. Mine is actually coming up again in April, I don't think I will fail, but if I do I'm getting it regardless.
Congrats on landing your job btw, looking forward to seeing your FD one day.

Hmm, well i have no cat, no air pump. So im 100% sure i will fail emissions test. My home of record is Abilene so i'm going to drive there to register my car.. since i'm going to school in Arizona (i'm pretty sure) i dont need to register it in arizona.

Thanks! Would you happen to know anyone I can talk to about getting my FD registered here? Can I get it inspected in Fort Worth, even though I live in Denton? My car has no emissions equipment, at all.. If any of you have info, just PM me. I don't want anyone publicly incriminating themselves..

Registration isn't really the difficult part. Wise county has no emissions (i.e. i have straight pipes on my 300zx, they sound like crap. But my money goes to the fd.) They are gonna probe the tailpipe in just about all higher population cities/towns. You are technically supposed to get it inspected in the county you live/register in. Have you found a residence as of yet?

I live in Denton. I might have a hookup. I took my Fusion Hybrid to a smwll shop and they daid that they could refer me to another shop that would be able to pass it.

Yeah, I was stationed at Camp Pendleton from 2005-2011. I went to Okinawa, Japan from 2011 - 2013. Now I'm out of the military and living in North DFW. My buddy Alex (moderator of the west) is taking care of my FD and getting ready to paint it. I'm unsure of your name, it's possible that I know you or know your face.
