GrandSport Speedway Open House - September 30th 2007
GrandSport Speedway is Texas’ newest sports car racing facility located in Hitchcock, Texas at the former historic Naval Air Station Hitchcock. The initial phase is now completed and will be followed by additional tracks and facilities.
The facility will be used by automobile clubs, automobile manufacturers motorcycle clubs, and many automobile and motorcycle schools. Nationally acclaimed Racing Adventures High Performance Driving School, including their Teenage Survive and Arrive driver training program, will base their operations at GrandSport Speedway.
As a point of interest The GrandSport Speedway Club located at the site is an automobile Country club that operates much like a golf country club. The main exception is that the members drive cars and not golf *****.
All car enthusiasts are welcome to come out and tour the track and perhaps to drive their car on the track in organized lead follow sessions to see how the track looks and feels. Additionally the pro drivers from Racing Adventures Driving School will be offering hot lap rides around the track.
For more information please call David at GrandSport Speedway at 409-986-7223
Track Address: 7575 Blimp Base Rd, Hitchcock, Texas. 77563
Directions to the track: From downtown Houston travel south on I-45. Exit on exit 15, continue strait thru the intersection staying right onto FM2004 that travels in front the dog racing track. Continue on FM2004 for about 3 miles right through the town of Hitchcock, until you see four large concrete pillars on you left. The track is right behind these pillars. Turn left at the GrandSport Speedway sign a half a mile passed Blimp Base Rd.

Okay...
So, I WAS going to let this whole thing about the tailgate party go...but Chuck since you so kindly brought it up I've got a few things to say.
As I write this I'm angry but after I'm through all that will remain is pure disappointment in those I considered to be friends.
Let's first define what a friend is:
Whether you know it or even care...I'm offended that you would talk that way about something that was so important to me. I've been around this club since August 2001 making sure that the events were organized, that the website was maintained/paid for, you know all the little things that go unrecognized. I've never asked for any recognition or anything in return, I did them because I care about the club and the people in it.
For months now I've shared my personal goals of playing women's professional football. It's a huge triumph for me. I wanted to share it with those who were close to me. And this is the **** I get in return? Typical narrow minded male bullsh!t. Nice...thanks!
Never once have you received that from me. None of you. I've stood in parking lots for hundreds of hours of the years listening to you talk about your cars, your wives, kids, gf's, jobs, or anything else you wanted to talk about. Never once did I consider "what is was" I considered it time with my friends.
On a personal note Chuck...your response cuts even deeper. There were times when things were important to you and your family not so long ago. Keith and I made time to check in to make sure things were okay. I didn't stop to think what it was or how I felt about it...I thought about how it must have felt to be you and your wife going through such hell. Then when things were better, you and she made a club come back...I was the first one there to give you both my hugs and congratulations.
You guys have made your intentions clear. I now understand. I'm embarrassed I even thought it was different. No worries though, you guys can continue living in your narrow-minded worlds. Plenty of my real friends showed up with open minds and hearts cheering me and my team on to a 63-0 victory. You guys can continue to bullsh!t like little girls... I've had enough. Maybe you're just afraid that one day women will be doing everything men do and you're just not ready to handle that or maybe even worse you're just self centered, egomaniacs.
FWIW...I'm very thankful to the "one" club member (other than Keith) who did take the time to exchange the virtue of friendship. As well as the two others who expressed that they had other commitments, but wished us well and would catch the next one. It meant the world to me.
And Chuck...thanks for putting it all in perspective for me. I had been trying to deny it all week and now I know the truth.

Let's first define what a friend is:
- A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.
- A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.
- A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.
- One who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause, or movement:

I stated the fact that many people are not interested is such an event, without going into detail. Not said with vengeance or malice, but the truth in simple terms.
I personally do not watch or ever watched football, baseball, basketball, tennis, bowling, golf, or hockey unless forced into it by my wife or friends. Have been this way since being born. Not even though I played little league, pony league, have golfed and played tennis in my youth.
Different stroke for different folks.
Speed and science are the only things that have ever interested me.
I apologize if it hurt you.
