2012? They're gonna build a circuit in 1.5 years? that'd be amazing.

I KNOW!!!! I couldn't believe it when I first heard. That is so awesome. And yep 100% true, they're building a facility from the ground up just for Formula 1!

It's doable. Especially when you've got F1/Texas money working together.

This is a private venture, it's not like a public works project.

Interesting since I live in San Antonio which is only an hour away. That would be cool, I wonder where they are going to put the track. The secondary news to this good for us. There will be many days the track is not being used that will need to be paid for.....

The US principle says that the track will be less than 10 miles from the airport (Bergstrom I assume).

Might have to build a track car if they ever let the public out on this track ... count me in on attending F1 in Austin.

Haha yeah I'm pumped about getting out on the track with my car. It'll be nice to have a really great top of the notch course. I hope this brings a bit more life into NASA in the Texas region, really disappointed with their presence so far.

Well considering the ELMS is in Europe, I highly doubt it'll ever come here lol. But yeah I have no doubt SCCA and NASA will pick up some events at the track.

I imagin that this track will be booked pretty heavy especially in the winter, from cart and other formula testing...

the owners are drivers, I have to think they will want others to be able to drive on it...

worried about the price though...

Hmmm I'm not too concerned with the price. I've been to tracks in several states and the prices are typically the same. Especially if a group like NASA is running it, their prices pretty much never change at least that I've seen. But who knows, I could be wrong with a track of this magnitude. I do completely agree that it will probably be booked solid for a long time, and I doubt I would even be interested in doing the track till the initial buzz is gone lol.

I'd be stoked if FIA GT came here. I'm annoyed they don't because there are Corvettes and Ford GTs competing though by European teams. I just love those Maseratis.

I figured attending the F1 race or track days would be expensive, but if ALMS and Grand Am races are held there they would be more affordable.

You'd actually be surprised. I've done the currency conversions for a few events and it's actually somewhat affordable. It runs anywhere from $200-600+ depending on where you want to sit (grandstand sections, pit lane, etc). Then even as low as $50 for general admission to sit in the grass at one of the corners or something. That's also for the entire weekend event (practice, quals, race). Considering it's a once a year event I think most people can scrounge up a couple hundred dollars to go see an event that they'll remember a lifetime.

CART is dead my friend. IRL teams maybe, but the price is going to have to be accessible for them, they don't want to shell out tons of bucks for a track, especially one with lots of eyes. Most of the teams we come in contact with would rather have a private, quiet place to test at their leisure.

We (MSR-H) are a IRL certified facility and we have numerous teams test with us during the off months (Jan-March)
