Flywheel help

There are so many freaking flywheel options. I am looking for a steel flywheel, not aluminum for my 87 T2. Also, since I don’t have my flywheel handy, just want to make sure that the stock comes with a 125 tooth gear.

Any suggestions, experiences, places where you would buy them, etc.?

So far I have been looking at:
ACT STREETLITE XACT FLYWHEEL, FORGED STEEL
ACT PROLITE XACT FLYWHEEL, FORGED STEEL
ZF01: Exedy Racing Flywheel
Racing Beat’s Lightweight Steel Flywheel 87-88 TURBO II

^^^ I have the ACT Streetlite flywheel and I dig it. Not so light that its a pain in traffic, but still get the acceleration benefits of a lighter flywheel.

All manual Rx7 turbo's can use the same aftermarket flywheel (S4, S5, FD, etc), They are the same diameter, have the same ring, and number of teeth.

However, you will need an S4 automatic counterweight for the flywheel. You can get one from ACT (expensive) or see if there is a member parting out an S4 Automatic. Of course all North American S4 automatics are NA so the counterweight will come from an NA car. It doesn't matter - it just has to come from the same series.

I get all my ACT parts from poorboyparts.com

If you go to their site, it redirects you to their ebay store. Send them a message - they really are pretty inexpensive on their ACT parts.

The thing about aftermarket flywheels is that the manufacturers always like to compare their weights to the stock 20-ish lb flywheel.

Its really not fair since they all require an additional counterweight and the stock flywheel has the counterweight built into it.

The auto counterweight weighs about 5 lbs so your 8 or 9 lb flywheel ends up being about 14 lbs give or take.

Stick to either stock or the Racing Beat steel one, Jacqui. Don't go any lighter. You may not like it.
