DFW Road Rally February 28th!
It's time for the first SCCA RoadRally of the year:
Explore the countryside south of Dallas and Ft Worth in the first annual Roads of Texas Rally! Starting after breakfast, you will get to Granbury in time for dinner. This road rally is presented by Mapsco, and you will need a copy of their latest "Roads of Texas" atlas to run the event. Many of you got this atlas in our rallies last year, but you will be able to buy one at the start in Dallas for the special price of $10.
The rally is on Saturday, February 28th, with registration at 9am at the Mapsco store at Preston Rd and Forest Lane. To see the flyer, go to http://www.texasscca.org/RoT09flyer1.pdf .
Preregistration (which saves you $$) is open at http://www.dlbracing.com/clubs/texas...x?EventID=3790
Go to www.texasscca.org/gimmick_rally.html to see a local Mazda at one of our rallies last year. Maybe next year the picture will be of an RX7.

Is it a cruise or a contest?
You can treat it like a cruise if you want to, but you won't win anything. If you are the first one at the end, you won't win anything either. You need to keep your eyes open, pay attention, follow the rules, turn where the instructions tell you to, THEN you might have a chance. If you go to fast you will miss that sign you are supposed to see, see? It takes skill and practice. Luckily, there is a "First Timer's" class, so some real novice will take home a trophy, even if their score is not even close to the experienced classes.

This one starts at 10 and is over around dinner. Both of the previous ones I've done were around 5 hours but my navigator and I are beginners so there is time to be made up for sure.
im the rx8 in front of the lotus
it took about 4 and a half hours for me and my navigator to finish that rally.
it was a ton of fun except for when i kept bottoming out the car and finally broke my catback.

the jew 89, I don't think I saw you there unless you arrived after our start time. I did see a grey 8 but he plates didn't look like the ones in the pic Sccarally posted. Anyway, it was a good rally. Lots of great back roads and plenty of questions to go along with the scenery. There were only two miatas, mine and Rotarynerdettes, that I saw though three were entered according to the rallymaster. No 7's yet but there was a nice TR4. If you've not competed in one I recommend at least giving it a shot. Even if you don't like the set up, the roads along the way are worth it.
i wasnt able to make it my 8 has been in the shop for the past 6 days. ive been fighting with my warranty company about my second gear syncro going out and them saying it because ive abused my transmission. and i also had to work.
